MVP 2025 P.A Ranked player of the year (ZAC BUTTERS)

I wanted to do this last year but I got busy but I wanted to rank our best player on total performance for the year and not via a 321 or 54321 voting system. This way we get an opportunity to identify how good the players season was and compare over seasons.

The basis is that I am going to rank every player for each game out of 100. I'm still compiling the game for Collingwood and rewatching the game and for reference. Connor Rozee will get 70/100 as the best player, and Lachie Jones will get 2/100 for turning up. 100 would be for an outstanding game, and obviously the requirements would be different for each playing position. We aren't going to expect Aliir to get 30 disposals to have a standout game.

I'm happy to collaborate results to even out any biases that I may have but really would need people to take this seriously as I'm aware of the strong opinions here over certain players.

If anyone is interested in investing time into ranking the players AND takes it seriously then I'll take and average the rankings each week into my spreadsheet.

If that's you, then feel free to send me a table of player scores from each game. It's not too late, but I'm happy to take rankings as they come.

Obviously the game last week was poor and hence the low starting point for our best player.

Let me know your thoughts on this.

Cool idea, but it will be a lot of work in what will likely be a painful season to sit through. Definitely won't be participating as I dont even intend to watch any Port games this year unless we rid ourselves of the muppet early, but I'll check back in to see results for sure. Could possibly be interested for 2026, at least in a feedback sense.

That is definitely a better way of grading the players than 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

I've thought about it myself but you can tell overall who has a great impact and you generally don't need to put a number to it.

Plus I don't have the time.

Super disappointing result today. I think we're seeing a trend here and that's the top list of players is far above the middle and we have too many players who aren't up to standard.

Zak was ordinary by standard but still best today. sigh!

It's stat based. FWIW when I adjusted for Brownlow voting or at least observational based voting, I have him higher. When he got the 7 and 5 goal games I think I had 3 and 2 votes.

at the end of the season I'm going to make a few adjustments for AA purposes and then bring into next season.

I think Ratagulea should really score higher for the last two games, Rucks are a little over adjusted, and Goals need a slight buff.

Butters is so far ahead of the rest of the pack it isn't funny.
Rozee? Please.... He's the definition of fraud.
Georgiades is a distant second and I probably have Ratugolea third to be honest. That's how bad things are.
Rozee might have some good games if you look at it purely statistically but as the leader of the club he has let us down immensely this year and if you actually watch him play you'd notice he mostly runs around in circles. A better coach would have taken this out of his game by now but maybe it's already too late.
JHF has had a disappointing season when we all thought he would break out after that indigenous game he dominated. Maybe my only other player worth a mention is Bergman who also had a disastrous game on the weekend but on the whole has performed at a high level throughout the year.

it's a 10-1 voting system per game. Mitches big scores came when he kicked goals. I'd like to have seen a bit more balance for defenders which will come next season. Mitch did have some huge games but not enough of them.

I'm not comparing it to anything so it is what it is.

Also 20 lots of 3 votes is 60 points so I'd take it as it is. Not a massive indicator of overall quality. So perhaps a 10-1 system is not as balanced as I'd like Something more of a Formula 1 system might give a better reflection.

I could plug that in and see what it looks like.
