Main difference is that Houston changed his tone after the season’s end.
Season is over and Zak is still talking about playing here next year. His management has said he won’t be traded. He hits RFA next year.
Genuinely no reason to believe he’s leaving this year apart from one clown on this forum, who won’t give any details.
Wouldn’t be surprised if he leaves next year (unless we finish top 4). But this year? That’s just silly.
Id be shocked if he left this year, but periods of change and any instability can leave the club vulnerable, that being said if a move was on the books it would have to be a massive offer in draft terms.

Zaks price just tripled. He is a best and fairest this year. 4 1sts and a key back pls.
Oscar Allen 1 x 10th B&F placing at a bottom 4 side in the last 5 seasons - free agent, offered $850k.

Work out Zak's worth on that and he's still under contract.

I know I'm getting old, but why does just about every f.arken question to a footballer or football coach in the AFL these days, ask them how proud are they about what that player did, or another player did or what the team achieved to win a game? And then when not prompted say how proud they are of something else. And yes it happens in so many other high profile sports.

The word proud must have been used 300 times tonight. Good human maybe half that number. Sure have self respect and self regard.

FMD you are well paid to train, not have to do another job, to do a job that is fun, to specialize and deliver the goods.

Never heard Neil Armstrong talk about how proud he was to land The Eagle successfully on moon surface, to find the right spot to land and not crash, and not take so long to find that spot, so he didn't run out of fuel and abort the first moon landing and blow billions of dollars to get to that point. And neither did the other 11 blokes who walked on the moon.

Travelling to another celestial body and successfully returning home is a lot bigger deal to be proud of than booting a piece of dead animal around an oval.

Those guys said I was paid to be trained to do a job, and I did what I was trained to do. That's it, no palaver about it.

I blame bloody Tony Robins and the self help gurus who say you can do anything and to tell yourself how proud you are of what you do. Proud to mop up the floor. Proud to cook up a few vegetables, proud to successfully tie up your shoelaces. Its become an epidemic.
I blame Jarrod Walsh. Awful interviewer. Just awful.

Hopefully this means we get Carr for the BnF preso and to sell some hope for the future.

The Hamish Hartlett one stuck out for me.

The question was basically 'so the Maggie's missed the finals, You must be proud'.

Y'know when Zak talked about the new players who came into the side and how he's looking forward to playing with them and developing their games, I felt a glimmer of hope about his next big decision.

You look at the results, and really Farrell and Drew dont make the TOP 10. If regular whipping boys DBJ and Lachie Jones are 7th and 8th maybe it's time some heat were put on these two. I thought it might have been games played but other than Jones they all played much the same.

My tips for B&F, prior to last night's count, were:
1. Zac
2. Mitch
3. Alliir
4. Richards
5. Rozee
6. Wines
7. Ratagolea
8. Drew
9. DBJ
10. Burgoyne.

WA a bad year with injuries and generally poor form, so a few in the top echelon played beneath their capabilities for one reason or another.

Wot, no Miles Bergmann?

Bergmann missed a few games later in the year and was never going to beat Butters but he had enough good games to be in our top 10.

Congratulations, Zak Butters. You are our hero.

Just watched his speech. He said he’s excited to play with McKinlay Liddy and the other young guys next year.
Be a pretty shit bloke to say that and leave a few days later 🤣

He could just be a right campaigner and just be messing with their heads, yeah blokes looking forward to next year, gonna be huge then sail off into the sunset. Doing a Ken and burning the place down from the inside out.

I'd say that's ruthless win at all costs behaviour, but Ken did it, so....🤔

Well deserved award though.
