Hard to believe we couldnt find a spot for him on Sunday when CCJ didnt play as well.
Only to find out Charlie played in the VFL practice match against Geelong yesterday.

As far as development goes I cannot understand why we didnt pick him for the seniors unless he only felt good yesterday? Strange one.

We are screaming for an athletic CHB and instead of trialling him we are going to let him rot in the VFL.

We aren’t making finals so no harm in seeing if he can make the transition.

Walker is a stop gap and Corr is a 3rd tall, so unless we can trade for an established KPD I don’t see why we haven’t even given him a trial in the back half this preseason?

To me if Goldy stays fit and X keeps improving then he is going to struggle to get a run up forward. Especially considering they will want to justify the CCJ investment.

could have easily given him a half of footy or something.
I agree its a pretty weird decision.

How are we letting him rot in the vfl?
The season hasn't started....and the second he was actually fit last year we had him in the side.

He has played half a dozen games since being at the club. We aren't letting him rot in the VFL.

Playing VFL and getting some continuity will be a big part of his development this year.

He is a natural forward and we are screaming out for an athletic CHF just as much as we are screaming for a CHB. For the time being let him develop in the forward line where he is most comfortable. If he isn't having much of an impact by the time the bye rolls around then perhaps we could trial him in the back half.

Continuity if the most important thing for Comben now, whether it's at VFL level or AFL level.

a young big bloke with previous extensive injury issues. They are going to take their time with him you'd think
Play a mixture of VFL and AFL , with some weeks off you'd think

He was only playing a half after being quite unwell with gastro or food poisoning.
Missing a half of AFL isn’t going to hinder his development

the fact that he's a natural forward could mean that learning to be a defender would be good for his development. learning to be accountable defensively is valuable for any player, and that's a skill that he could take with him back to the forward line. knowing how a key defender plays is good for understanding what your opponent is thinking and what they're likely to do.

Brother TAO,

Do you have a sense of how we might lean key forward wise?

Is there appetite for 2 KPF; Chom and Larks? or only 1 + and Forward /ruck rotation?

We hear plenty about the rucks battling it out and maybe because X is showing a bit but nothing about key forwards fighting for that spot.

Love this. I've been saying it too, seems like there's a position there for someone to take and I think it would suit his traits very well. Should be trialing him there at least to see how he goes.

Forward line might be tough to break into with larkey, ccj and if we play xerri with goldy. Not to mention Edwards coming along.

I'm in a chat group that has a north staffer in it and he piped up when we were discussing the same topic and worried about Comben.
Get this man an 'inner-scrotum' badge pronto mods!!!!

I reckon in 2 seasons we will forget that Chominski was in battle for any position other than the All-Australian one. #goodvibes

Surley comben plays rd 1
Would like it to happen, but he didn’t play in either practice match and only one vfl game last week. He apparently went well, but didn’t dominate and we brought CCJ into the club. Difficult balancing act with the rucks and kpfs.

The poor guy had serious food poisoning so only played a half in the second game.

The ruck planning and the intro is a short term problem for him I guess

I’m hoping he plays like everyone else!!
