Autopsy Round 7, 2022: Hawks fail against Dees

Don't like losing, but hard to hate the result. Thought we were in it more than the score suggested. Things seemed to go against us after that BS Ben Brown free on the third.

In the end there were only 2 Ben Brown flops in it 😜

Loving this sort of effort, the polish will come with more experience. Go Hawks!

Loving the excitement and energy our younger blokes bring into the game. Really feel like we are building something special, looking forward to the future.

Another brilliant effort by the Hawks. In 2 weeks you’ve blown away the swans and the dees early and you’ve had the umps against you. Umps today is bordering on Bulldogs bad. Fair umps and accuracy and you would have won. In any case, you must be absolutely stoked with this impressive rebuild. 👍

Lynch battled manfully but ******* hell how good is Max Gawn? Like seriously, they lose this game without him. He's so damn good

Amazing effort. So tough all game.
Only got really beaten by them when Callow was in the middle, he was way out of his depth at AFL level imo.
Umpires absolutely fleeced us all night, totally favoured Melbourne.
We have got something good brewing with Sam! Go the hawks

Really loved that game.

We got absolutely mauled in the ruck - but just kept finding ways.
Gunston and Breust just not playing like the class operators we expect.
We were off a 5 day break, and just kept at it to the last siren. A genuine 4 quarter effort.
Thought Worpel, O'Meara played well today.
Max Lynch copped a lesson - but he's gonna be good! I like the way he plays.
Kosi got 4 which was great reward for the huge effort he puts in.
Maginess may have payed his best game.

So much to like about that game.

We did all right at the end of the day.
Good honest crack, just skills were off at crucial times all over the ground.
No late goals given up for 4 quarters is the big progress, we have to be satisfied with that.

Overall, disappointing to lose a game, but the lads can take heart because having had the chance to measure up against the reigning premiers. Just keep calm and carry on, win the games we should in the middle of the season now.

Can't ask for more than every player having a crack, and the team trying their best to play fast, exciting football. Just gotta get cleaner.

Sidenote: is there anything more boring in football than s**t free kicks to Ben Brown, then watching him take forever to kick for goal 🤮

Probably so..10 points, Free count 14-26 and Gunners and Breust 1.6 between.
Nearly call it the one that got away.

Nah. Reckon Mel were in cruise control. Like what we used to do to teams. Umpiring frustrating but don't feel like it made a difference.

Coming off a 5 day break and umpiring not going our way, that's one of those losses you feel bloody good about.

Gunston & Breust kick straight today and we win.

In a warped way, that's kind of the best result we could have gotten? The players won't be disheartened, no pressure on Mitchell and we end up with a better draft pick.
