Another ton for Kelly today
if he doesn't play next match sack dizzy.

Yes, you must reward performance above any other consideration. Even if the selectors feel Kelly may not be up to the task, he has earned the right to play at a higher level. I'm not saying that's how the selectors see him, but you have to wonder what he has to do to earn their consideration.

When I was involved in Grade cricket, a player named Paul Nobes was peeling off 100 after 100 and not getting a go. For those who remember Nobes, he had a slightly unorthodox style, and many "good judges" thought his technique too risky for 1st class cricket. I used to reply with, "If you don't play him, you'll never know. He deserves a chance".

The rest is history, he made massive scores for SA, and I often wonder how he may have gone for Australia. Sometimes selectors place other considerations ahead of the sheer weight of runs, and I think this is wrong.

Its been reported today that SA have picked up Harry Conway, Henry Thornton, Ben Manenti and Aidan Cahill from essentially NSW/Vic/SA etc

Conway and Thornton both good pickups IMO, Manenti onto his third state in 3 years, what happened in Tas for it not to work...
Don't know enough about Cahill sorry

Also From 2023/24 SACA has decided on a 6 team Div 1 and the remainder into Div 2. Bit of a shakeup for Premier cricket but we’ll overdue

Was their best player on debut and got dropped ahead of Andrews the next game

SA is the first state to name its '22/23 contracted players.

Wes Agar, Jordan Buckingham, Alex Carey*, Jake Carder, Harry Conway, Brendan Doggett, Daniel Drew, David Grant, Travis Head*, Henry Hunt, Spencer Johnson, Thomas Kelly, Jake Lehmann, Nathan McAndrew, Nathan McSweeney, Ben Manenti, Harry Nielsen, Lloyd Pope, Liam Scott, Henry Thornton, Jake Weatherald, Nick Winter. Rookies: Kyle Brazell, Aiden Cahill, Bailey Capel, Isaac Higgins, Ryan King, Harry Mathias
Some real positives by SACA and some negatives.
How does the perenially inconsistent Jake Lehmann continue to make the squad when they have younger more consistent batters in Drew, Carder, and the emerging talent of Kelly, Capel, Brazell, Cahill and Higgins. Cahill, like Thornton, a New South Pathways product we let fly the nest. I see a marked improvement by the Redbacks going forward.

Thornton yes. A former NP and U19 squaddie from memory still has plenty of offer. Never had the chance to see him play for the Blues. Conway's form has dropped off past two seasons, so not surprised we delisted him. A new state may reinvigorate big Harry.
Good rebuilding of the Redbacks pace attack by SACA after losing veterans Sayers, Mennie, Worrall and Richardson. A mixture of home grown guys and imports. I rate Spencer Johnson from seeing quite a lot of him in SA lower tier. Grant, Doggett and Winter will need to be at their best to avoid being swamped by the four newbies.

Dont you mean Daniel Drew. Cahill is yet to play state cricket.

Strong pace battery now, even if most are imports.
Manenti a smart moneyball signing, especially with Pope still very loose at times.
Batting is still going to be reliant on Hunt, Head and Carey but they've surrounded those three with solid citizens for the most part.

Manenti wasn't contracted at Tassie, not even a rookie deal. Went down south off his own bat, his brother was also down there. Both did well, Tassie probably weren't in a position to offer him a contract but with the promise of opportunities to train and play and potentially get upgraded into a deal mid-season. Good on him, he's under rated and actually a decent batsman too.
