It sucked but it says a lot about the lack of Intestional Fortitude of our players that they fell away after that.

Starting to think Brian Cook was onto something when he said our rebuild was still 2/3 years away from being finished.

This kind of thinking is why we have been so shite for so long.

Last year we played this pathetically, so we sacked the coach and ran an enquiry into the off-field state of affairs.

12 months on, where are the results of that enquiry? We're a bottom 4 team right now - the players are good enough, and have shown it at times, but the coaching, fitness, and off-field support still are not good enough, and somehow with 3 games to go we are completely cooked.

We should expect, and demand, success, given how long it has been, and how quickly other teams have turned things around in recent years.

No system to kick or handball to there, no defensive awareness to shift back and cover the area 20m out from goal.

What are we doing?
I'll tell what we are doing- forced to play Dow/Setterfield/Fisher and Cottrell all at the same time

next question?:straining:

So depressing how we've just fallen in a heap in the 2nd half of the season. The flag is there for the taking. Collingwood says let's go and do it, we decided to show zero ticker and peter out.
There, you've got a team that's mobile, with lots of players with good aerial ability for their size, and that have great game sense in terms of attacking.

They took that nucleus, and play a cohesive counter-attacking style. You need to make use of the strengths of the list, factor in the weaknesses, and then adjust as required.

This next half is as much about the team finding desire as it is about seeing Vossy's ability to make strategic moves (given both Crows and Lions have worked out our game plan and we are being beaten in the middle/clearances).
They will roll over and it will get ugly, nothing surer

Sydney and Brisbane would be licking their lips if we make it

Yeah agree but don’t underestimate the learnings we could get from finals like exposure, even these last 3 rounds will be beneficial in our development and progression regardless of results.

Not disagreeing with you but it wouldn’t hurt Harry & Charlie to try and pressure or tackle at times when the ball is on the deck as well.
Not even sure the stat is correct. Owies had a shot at goal from a tackle, Owies had another late in the 2nd, Cerra and martin laid a strong tackle early. That's 3 without even checking. Then bear in mind that they have had over twice as many inside 50's as us.

At the bottom of it

Silvagni has cooked this rebuild

Too many mentally weak, flaky, pansy types. All over the park. One paced midfield

Expanding on this - I don't think the issue is the players he/we took. The philosophy of a scorched earth rebuild where we offloaded the majority of our AFL-grade experienced core hampered the development of the kids we drafted. Add to that, the "leaders" we kept were leaders in name, not nature.

We're been blessed with a few hyper-competitive professionals like Walsh and Weiters, but overall you're not going to push kids to their best if the environment accepts mediocrity.

There’s red time goals, then there’s red time goals agains Carlton…

For all the talk of needing to get physical not sure cripps getting himself suspended helps us. We were also certainly going to lose this game anyway. Without Cripps I doubt we can win either of the next 2 either

If Walsh, Curnow, McKay, Cerra, fisher, Martin, Docherty and others were performing - we could spend some time lashing Setterfield, Dow, Cotrell etc.

We are losing this game because across the board we haven’t turned up, not because our bottom 4-5 are dragging us down.

There are players who are paid top dollars dishing out poor performances. Stop going for the easy and predictable targets.

No one forced us to bring all of in Newnes, Owies and Martin in the state of fitness and form they're in.

Honey and Kemp were there, fit, and in good form. That shifts Fisher forward, and pushes Walsh outside to the wing, you'd hope.

Fogarty also there if needed.
