Sounds like Sunday's board meeting would have been interesting ...

OK so the head count is currently
Head Coach
CEO
3 x board members

I think we can take that press conference on Sunday where 'everyone is safe' to be baloney.
Wonder who is next.
Does it also change the landscape of wanting an experienced coach?

Not that I want just anyone - but if we're happy to look at viable assistants again, then Yze and others step up a notch in our search.

And plenty of supporters aren't keen for Hird but then again plenty are... if Hird comes back my whole family is getting signed up as members that day. Everyone deserves second chances - we'd all be stuffed if that wasn't the case.
If Hird comes back as a senior coach my family will never spend another cent on the club. It really is a line in the sand moment for this club imo.

I see it differently - yes we absolutely need to do the work - but when are we going to bring in someone who knows what that means and won't stand for less? We need to be ruthless again - I'm sick of everyone pumping up a guy like Ross Lyon as the answer when he couldn't put away a premiership no matter how hard he tried. We won't solve this by copying Richmond and trying to be a better Richmond. I don't improve myself by wanting to be someone else - I do the hard work on myself and improve myself - not by copying someone else. Its not about looking back - its about looking at what made us a great club and ensuring we lift our eyes to be a great Essendon again - not a Richmond (or Melbourne or whoever) 2.0
You’re sick of Ross Lyon who won more finals in a single season than we have in nearly two decades, yet you’re chomping at the bit for a dubious prospect like Hird?

“Essendon Football Club wishes to advise Paul Brasher and Simon Madden have informed President David Barham of their decision to step away from the Board of Directors.

Brasher and Madden will depart from their positions, effective immediately.

Furthermore, Finance Director Peter Allen has advised his intention to step away from the Board following the Club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in December.

Sean Wellman will also remain on the Board until a new Football Director has been appointed, at which point he will step down following his transition of duties.”

Goes on to quote them not aligned to the direction and have to step down in the interests of the club balhblahblah.

Finance and football portfolios need to be handed on before those two can step down otherwise they’d be gone already.

Given the way Truck was handled he probably doesn’t want his reputation tarnished with that sort of callous mishandling of the situation (we know he’s not ruthless like that when he has to let people go).

I find it interesting that all of these people won’t be part of the club on Saturday though — the club’s first AFLW game is that feather in the cap sort of thing that is just completely overshadowed now.
Is it a feather? Every club has one and we were last.

Our next ceo will be the most important appointment of the last 29 years, critical that we get someone with footy industry experience. I wonder who will put their hand up for the footy director role on the board.

I'm getting all these emails from the club with no bombershop discounts. It's startling.
