TT has talent no doubt, but is anyone really surprised by the trade chatter?

He was always going to be the one guy on our list that would be make or break with Clarko coming home.

Put in what's required and Clarko could make him a star.
Continue with a sub par attitude where insta and hair are more a focus than team and footy, Clarko will not accept it and welcome to the VFL.

He has an open invitation to work hard in the kitchen, if it's too hot for him, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Not sure which is more speculative TT putting in the effort or any picks we would get for him.
Yeah he and Stephenson become boom or bust propsects under Clarko imo.

I get the (uninformed) impression that TT has somewhat withdrawn from his teammates the longer the season has gone on.

Additionally, judging by what Tarryn himself puts out there - and this may be harsh - it doesn’t look like he’s surrounding himself with “winners”. Afraid where that may lead him.
Yeh didnt look like he was hanging out with 'winners' at the rnd 23 game. Could have been hanging out with his other team mates but wasnt.

I would think someone is going to be moved out, to bridge the draft pick gap between 1 and 55. If its Thomas, I would love to get a couple of picks in the 10-20 region.

I'm not banking on any priority picks. I think we will get access to state league players as compensation.

Let's not be too hasty.

You can miss out on a player of Dusty quality if we don't stick by him.
I don't want to push him out but if he really wants to go, I am ok with that, why keep someone who does not want to be there. If he goes though we need to be properly compensated.

The kid is an extreme talent no doubt.

But (if the reports are correct about his application) then he'll never be a superstar, quite simply because the superstars have the greatest work ethic.

They're always the first to training, the last to leave and when even you can't see them they're working on their game.

Every kid drafted starts off as a talented sportsperson, it's the ones with the drive to be the best that make it. The rest end up stacked on the pile that the system eventually spat out..

Not so sure I agree with that mate. For every Dangerfield there's a Dustin Martin. Of course discipline helps a lot, though.

Martin is pretty disciplined when it comes to maintaining his health and fitness, there's been a few articles detailing his routine that goes outside of AFL training, most of his durability comes from not being strenuous in instant lateral movements being balanced out by his athletics and yoga program.

Both are different definitions of what constitutes 'professional' yes, but their dedication to their own brand of physicality to use playing footy is similar.

Dusty is a generational freak just like Warney eating a pie, drinking a coke and smoking a dart before taking 5-25 in the first session.

For every generational freak there's 10,000 athletes that don't make it..

Martin’s also a keen boxer, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the ring for some charity bouts after afl.

He’s not going - he told us last week.

He wants to get super fit, commit and have a massive 2023.

Anyone that says he’s not gonna be a star has got no idea.

With the right coaching, standards and expectations he will be elite
""going to get super fit, going to commit" of course he will otherwise Clarko will kick him to the curb harder than a Sav Rocca check-side from 50 metres out..

Talk is cheap Joe so I'm willing to put my plums on the line.. prove that I 'have no idea' Tarryn!

Your right talk is cheap mate and I agree but we don’t have a cheap coach either. I’m sure he will drive them, clip and cuddle them when needed.

The kid has more ability in his left toe then all of us collectively on BF, let's hope the penny drops..

He is going to make a lot of posters look like fools. It's a pity that Clarkson gives everyone the "Clarko worked his magic" excuse, when he puts in another preseason similar to his 2019, 2020, and 2021, before re-establishing himself as one of our best players.

“He’s doing all the extras after training sessions … after every main training he’s on the side of the field … doing a bit of extra running extra repeat sprints." - Jy Simpkin on Thomas.

"He's a genuine competitor, he hates losing and actually likes to train, so when you see that, you think, 'Wow, if we can foster that and add that on top of his natural ability', you start to dream about the genuine superstars. - Brent Harvey on Thomas

I'll remind everyone again that this is a kid who in his first preseason went to live with Jona Segal to basically undertake a fitness bootcamp.

So what if he checked out after David Noble lost the players? I'm betting he wasn't the only one. But to question his work ethic is completely ridiculous and the fact that these criticisms have followed him his entire career raises the question of whether he has been slapped with the lazy tag because of his skin colour.

I'd think the issue is attitude.

Claiming anyone here is basing that on skin colour is ridiculous.

This forum is about football, most comments are about fearing unmet potential, no place for inappropriate judgements based on non football stuff.

Tarryn is ours and I'm sure everyone here just wants to see him succeed for both himself and the success of our club.

I think the context of this being after a death in the family and before a mental health break gets lost. It's a mistake by an emotional 22-year-old, not a sign of laziness or a poor attitude.

The only evidence of this attitude was his poor relationship with David Noble. A coach who nearly drove away two of our other most competitive players in Zurhaar and Horne-Francis.

Bring this jumper back, please. Tarryn is a Shinboner, he just needs to realise it.
