Was thinking about the Collingwood round 23 game...

We need to find a new role for Walsh, instead of playing 5 forwards and Walsh pushing into the midfield...
Walsh and Cerra may need to alternate between the wing and inside...

IMO, our forward line looked so much better and functioned (excluding goal kicking) holding 6 forwards...
Also allowed us to play a defensive forward on a Daicos type....

FB: Boyd - Weitering - McGovern
HB: Williams - Young - Saad

C: Acres- Cripps - Walsh
F: Pittonet - Hewett - Cerra

HF: Fisher - McKay - Durdin/ (Lockdown Forward)
FF: Motlop - TDK/ (2nd Ruck) - Curnow

B: Docherty (Mid&Def) - Kennedy (Mid&Fwd) - Marchbank/JSOS - Newman
Wasn't Walsh a late withdrawal in round 23?

Josh Corbett might be worth having a chat to this off season. Handy option as a third tall up forward.

I’m not sure about him as a third tall but I would love to get him or someone else like Burgess, Sproule or Stewart as a back up key position player as IMO we are still very thin in this area.

Obviously it’s very tricky to get good depth when the first choice guys are elite but we need some form of back up that doesn’t involve playing the likes of SOS, Marchy and Gov in key positions.

Also I see McAsey kicked a few goals on the weekend in the SANFL so I wonder if he is still on the radar or if that ship has sailed?

Voss has had to compromise the game plan and structure of a proper all of field game - because he is encumbered with lacking AFL quality wings. If LoB and Cottrell could just hold their own ( let alone actually be able to impact a game by running with the ball and breaking lines ) HFF and small wouldn't have to press up so much and forward structure could be held more consistently.

Glaringly obvious - needs to be fixed - either the players step up or they get replaced and Voss tried hard to replace them all year- but injuries all over the park constrained even that.

There's a bit of discussion amongst Tigs fans that they will be trying to offload Graham or Soldo to get the Tarantula and Hopper deals across the line...

I'd happily ship off 28/Jones compo for Graham to help facilitate a trade

28 and the Jones compo pick out for Graham and Acres
Draft Hollands, best wing in the draft and an absolute aerobic freak

God imagine the defensive run

FB: Mcgovern - Weitering - Williams
HB: Docherty - Young - Saad

C: Acres - Cripps - Hollands
F: Pitto - Hewett - Cerra

HF: Durdin - Mckay - Walsh
FF: Motlop - Curnow - Martin

I/C: Boyd - Graham - TDK - Kennedy

What do we think Motlop can be?

Don’t think he’s ever gonna be in the elite category for small forwards but it’s always fun having the magical small forward

Betts and Garlett were just so enjoyable.

Is a consistent 30 goal a season player reasonable?

Why do we want Graham? Isn't he an inside mid? We have heaps of those.

Graham is a running machine, he’s inside and outside.

We tried to get him not that long ago, would have in a heart beat but I highly doubt the Tiges would move him on when they tried so hard to keep him

They’ll be trying to move on their spuds/depth, better off retiring off Cotchin

He was Freos best by a margin. Some of his body work was great with a few Cripps style hip and shoulders to win the ball.

His kickings not elite and he can blast it high but our current wings do that too, he's just an upgrade in regards to all the rest of his game. Gets back in defence and impacts too

Depends what you’re paying for him. Yes, he played a decent game on the weekend. I was there, wasn’t amazing bc of decision-making (as usual), but one of his better performances. His kicking was above his normal standard but still plenty of bombs and poor handballs.

It’s not his base standard.

Better than LOB/Cotts - yes, but that’s no great achievement and if Cotts improves again next year, might not be so clear-cut.

I’m getting slightly concerned by what I’m seeing/hearing around our list management now. Got a bad feeling we’re going to mess things up.

He plays wing and half forward. One of the best runners in the comp and absolutely elite for pressure ratings. He's been a very good transition player for the Tigs from multiple positions on the ground during their dominance period

For the price we'll be paying theres 0 reason not to take him. Bargain basement for a player who's floor is an improvement on our current wings and his peaks are as good as any wing in the comp.

My only concern is Harry but as soon as he signs the dotted lines really, I'll have no worries. If push came to shove I think Austin would move on William and Gov to free some space, but so far most of his picks have been good. Mirkov, Motlop, Carroll, Durdin... All seem ticks to me. Then to go out and find Young Hewett and get Cerra across the line. I think he's been fantastic.

30-40 a season.

6 years in he has never averaged 20 possessions a game. Was big bodied so he hit the ground running but really hasn't improved and was lucky to be part of a great side. If he was a better than average mid they wouldn't be pushing so hard to get both Taranto and Hopper. Ross is in the same boat. Makes their midfield all too one paced.

Blake must nominate CFC as his preferred destination club, transfer will follow seamlessly.
Dockers want flexibility in the line up , to be able to develop their young 1st round talented midfielders.

If Acres does want to play for us and he publicly nominates us...
Puts us in a pretty decent position, trade wise...

If Acres was a FA 3x $333,333.33 ($1mil suggested) may struggle to produce little, to any compensation pick you would think...

Lets say
Dogs > Lobb
Fremantle > Pick 29

Fremantle need to satisfy Melbourne for Jackson and a top 10 pick looks better than pick 14...
Would this be an option or is it to Carlton biased?

Fremantle > Pick 10 & 28 & 62
Carlton > Picks 14 & 29 & Acres (This rates Acres at pick 43)

Also thinking about it...
If the rumour of Betts is trying to come back as a coach is true and we did get a compensation pick 37 for Jones...
I'd offer pick 37 for Liam Henry and back Betts to turn him around like he has with Stengle...

Or just go to the draft with Picks 14, 29, 37 & 64

I'd prefer this guy if Eddie's coming home...

Thanks Pav 3rd rounder it is then ...

“I mean, Blake’s had a good solid year and he’s a good solid player.

“But we’ve said this a couple of times, he’s not in the best 10 players at Fremantle, he’s not in the top 10 players at the Fremantle Dockers.

He’s been saying some absolutely ridiculous stuff lately pav.

Bloke was pretty much their best player in a semi final and just pushed through what looked like a real sore knee.

He also said:-

“Is he someone that adds value to the club? Absolutely. Do you want to keep him? Absolutely.”

Throw away line. in isolation he's probably not in the top 10 but would be in the 11 to 15 range.

Regardless he only needs to be in the top 22 (for them or us).

Pav softening the blow for Freo supporters when he leaves.
