Can't believe we're rebuilding again lmao
Tbh, I could totally see us playing better next year if we’re rebuilding and the pressure is eased a bit.

Still believe we have a quality list.
Still believe we need more youth.
Still think that when we bring in good young players they’ll continue to improve our older ones.
For me it’s just the game plan and perhaps the consistency which is problematic.

So yes, if we can lock down some quality draftees whilst maintaining the core of our list and pushing forward no reason I can’t see us performing better next year whilst also replenishing the list.

It’s not like Hill, Long or Clark really won us any games this year. Though I’d still like to keep Clark, they’re replaceable.

That's me. One of the my son's mates I bought a membership for was a Collingwood family kid. He's gone back over to them now they are in finals, I had him a Saint but finals drew him back in. His old man has him back at the footy. He got sick of going to Saints games. No-one wants to go to the footy with me so it's pure donation. If they * up this trade and draft period I'm going to stop buying memberships. I don't even enjoy going that much these days. I don't feel like the side will bother showing up regularly. I'd rather prop up Rupert Murdoch than give the cash to some street junky that's just going to use it to kill themselves slowly.
I think it's pretty clear that with 60,000 members and the attendance numbers that we get, that membership will drop way off if something doesn't change. They play soft, unwatchable footy and most times when they are challenged they roll over.
I did the members survey the other day and it was good to see inclusivity being a prominent part of it. We seem to have a new metric for measurement. It's not wins and losses of the men's team but how safe we all feel that's important. The club is booming it seems. Our blind, wheelchair and AFLW teams are doing well and we all feel included.

Membership won't drop off, look at the history of it

If Clarko is all in on Hill then I think we hear about it in the next few days.
Sounds like a case of Clarko being open to it but not being able to guarantee it will happen. Which means, I want you Brad but not at all costs.
Personally hope it happens.

Ahahahahha 😂

Tom Phillips

St Kilda has also been linked as a possibility for Phillips, but it would likely depend on if anything happened with Bradley Hill. Hill, who has two years to run on his contract, has been linked as an option for North Melbourne but there have been no trade talks between the Saints and Hill.

It’s possible but it’s got to be planned not just grab at things. Clark seem to defy logic still. Trading a guy who is ready to rise for another 5 year project that we hope might be better seems like gambling for the sake of it.

Jesus. I need medication to get through the trade and draft periods. It’s seriously traumatic. Like giving $5000 to an alcoholic gambling addict. You just hope they don’t hurt themselves too much.

Are we in the market for a new gameday runner?

Actually the more I think about this, the more it seems like the only reason we’d trade him is if we’ve decided he’s just not afl level professionalism and we can’t get him there. The spaghetti arms noted on here would be an argument in favour of that.

Still a big development failure by the club though. Do you think he’d be phoning it in if he was at Geelong or Sydney?
I don’t think a guy who’s had his face and jaw busted in the last two years is ‘phoning it in’.

Firstly. Tom Phillips, no.

Dard Ball Get spent all of it on the finest leather and gumboots on the market and terrorised others instead. Money well spent IMO.

Having gutted the squad we are on the cusp of finally getting somewhere , having missed out on finals - we could very well be in them next year.
Even if we do lose Long , Hill , Clark going by this year would they of made a difference if they even played this year.

Trade , draft and natural improvement and we will be a force to be reckoned with.
There is no number of draftees this year that will push us to finals next year.

So they've asked him if he would be open to a move but said we'll only let him go if we get high compensation. I know you can do some mental gymnastics and say that it's different but at the end of the day the club are dangling him with his permission.
Have they asked him if he's open to a move?

Has there been anything from the club saying we are pushing Clark out? Or is it still just that some clubs think he might be gettable?
Disappointing that players contracted are telling their managers to see if any clubs are keen.. We're fast becoming the club players want to leave & can't attract a quality player other than a delisted one..

Let's look at who is exiting the club
Hannas 1 game this year
Gears 0 games this year
Paddy circa 6 games this year
Kent maybe a couple this year

Long 15 or so games in and out based on suspension and injury replacement or sub

Hill plenty of games but with little impact on 900k

Clark say less than 10 games but can play.

4 players with 7 games
3 players with 50 games with negligible impact. 2 with picks in the 40s...Academy picks well other clubs could have picked them and didn't.
We got more games and impact from 3 first year players....than these 7. That's 1/6th of our list.

Cut the list and load up with no more than 2nd rounders try and luck a Will Brodie type.

Clark has to be a top 10 pick otherwise why trade him unless he wants out which is not the message I am getting.

Whilst Billings ceiling has been painfully low it is still better than a risk of an untried 18 year old pick in the 30s which is all we would get over last few years.

Get a clean run with injuries Coff Clark Gresh DMac Hayes even impacts from missing at times Jones Steele Higgins and we may surprise a few next year.

Yes they've definitely cut the right players with 5 including Irish. That alone will be difficult to fill even before more are traded out and picks upgraded, as is the claim.
If they take 4 highish draft picks it will come with 5 DFA's too.
