First the talk of ridiculous lowballing, now we've traded, to my calculations, roughly 756 points in and 1600 out.

Because that reads we are giving Sav and getting nothing

We'd get a pick or two out of it, one of the round 2/3 or future 2/3 picks thrown in by North/Eagles/Port to balance things out.

TB is just reporting the important movements (players and top 10 picks).

After the novelty of making a stand and not accepting our reasonable offer has worn off, forcing him into the ND or PSD, they'll be left with nothing.

Imagine having to brief to your big and loyal member base and inform them the club got no return on a first round talented draft pick, just to prove a point. That wears pretty thin a few days after.

The Pies faithful would burn the place down. They've made some silly list management decisions recently, but they aren't this incompetent.

This deal gets done..no doubt about it. 5 days to go, this gets done on Wednesday IMO..

We want Clark I'm pretty sure, not the next best available. I can't see us leaving it to chance that the Hawks don't select him.
GC could get 5 and a FR3rd for Rankine. Maybe they agree to on trade those picks to us together with Bowes for our FR1 + 58 or something?

Tell me you know nothing without telling me you know nothing about the draft .

1. Points only matter if you're bidding. We're not bidding.
2. We've already said we're only taking two picks to the draft. So we've bundled all our picks (except pick 7) and found the club willing to give the highest pick back. Those Rd3+4 picks weren't going to be used on draft night by us, may as well get some value out of them.

What's the point of keeping pick 36 and not using our later picks when we can use them to advance our position?

No doubt. At first glance the Brisbane trade looks odd but I’m happy to see how it plays out in totality.

I've done the ol classic ''oh Bowes is a bit outside/soft ..... oh we got him? GREAT PLAYER'' routine; but he might well actually turn out to be a real bonus.

I watch a bit of the Suns, they're one of the few clubs that seems to get on free to air every week up here in FNQ (fair enough) - didn't see much of Bowes this year, but his absence was noted as I'd previously enjoyed watching him play - wasn't quite sure why he wasn't getting a game with the Suns this year.

Might be a bit like a Berry or Brodie; discarded/not rated but ripe to turn it around in a new environment.

The others (Henry, Bruhn) are a bit more unknown, less exposure, and therefore they've retained that High Draft Pick sheen. Bowes has 5 years in the system, talent and 80 odd games under his belt.

That all makes sense. But this years picks that we gave Brisbane were already higher in points value than pick 25. So why the need to throw in next years 2nd rounder?

Hopefully our involvement in the 6 team mega trade is to improve our pick 25 to the Eagles pick 20 (for Henry) and pick up a late future as well. Unfortunately it means losing Ratagolea.

Brisbane need points and high picks far more than we need junk picks in the 40’s.

They’ve got pick 1 and another in the top 20 to get points for. And picks to trade for Dunkley. They’re more desperate that we are.

We can pass on Henry if the deal is not to our liking. There’s not a chance in hell Brisbane pass on Ashcroft or Dunkley, so they need to ensure they get the required picks.
