Traded Jason Horne-Francis [to Port Adelaide in multi-club trade]

Are GWS looking to use picks 3, 12, 15, 18 and 19 purely for the draft? Or do they want to get some players in via trade?

Maybe we could upgrade pick 33 or 43 for one those later picks and offer up Byrne-Jones or Bonner?

We genuinely need to trade away a player for 2nd round. Can't see it happening another way.

Hayes, Drew, Bonner, DBJ, Farrell. DBJ with most value in that lot perhaps as an All-Australian and club BnF although he was off it best this year. I know he just resigned but yeah either him or Drew

In all seriousness North have actually done fine out of this deal. So have West Coast. GWS showed up, bent over and handed over the lube to make it work for everyone else, and I salute them for it.
Yeah I think north have done well. What more can you hope for to get for a player that wants out than a similar pick + a future 1st on top. That’s a good deal.

Also west coast, despite people knocking them to get out of pick 2 and the private school vic boys and into hewett territory , whose not far behind, if at all those vic boys plus get another pick. That’s good for them.

Ports given up a lot, but the fact we get future 2nds and 3rds back helps a lot,

In the end rozee butters jhf Bergman sinn to look forward too in our midfield.

I really rate that group of players as a future midfield. High end young talent there.

Prior to turning up at the dumpster fire that is North Melbourne, JHF was noted for his drive and professionalism.

Hang on, the spin his management are putting out is he was noted for not following up on recovery etc.

He was never noted for anything but his raw ability.

But the little things between matches, such as having ice baths, booking physio appointments and filling in forms, have been described as his “achilles heel”.

A source close to the 19-year-old said the young gun would get better with his preparation “but that was always going to be a struggle for him”.

“Anyone would’ve known (before drafting him) that Jason’s attention to detail was his achilles heel,” he told News Corp.

“He’ll get better with his preparation and attention to detail … that’ll come with maturity and experience.

“North Melbourne are trying to set standards but they should’ve known that following up with physio or filling out forms wasn’t a strength and he was always going to need assistance.

“They let those things get out.”

Jason is perfectly suited to Port - a SANFL club pretending it is big league. He can do his SANFL level preparation, kick the winning goal in a Showdown and big the big hero of a third of a small town.

He got found out at North though when the likes of Leigh Adams and Brent Harvey wouldn't stand for his bullshit.

He cracked the sads and ran home to the Little League where turning up is considered drive and professionalism.

Port haven't even tried to satisfy North's original trade request and have attempted to low-ball instead.
Absolutely untrue. Several Port players have been approached about whether they'd be open for trades, and the AFL have been approached about allowing us to trade more future picks. The fact that everyone has said no doesn't mean we haven't tried.

Alternative? Do nothing and re-visit the trade next year.

They have a full year to get him to change his mind and stay, or to bring Adelaide into the equation.

Daniher wanted to go to Sydney and ended up going to Brisbane a year later, because they were prepared to pay the asking price and were able to convince him to nominate htem.

Papley stayed at Sydney after requesting a trade to Carlton.

Etc.

North don't need to do anything. If Port won't front up what will satisfy North to facilitate a trade, I imagine JHF and his manager won't be too pleased with them after convincing him to ask for a trade in the first place.

Exactly - then he's putty in Clarkson's hands.

A) Adelaide aren’t in the equation
B) hes checked out of North. He goes now, or for even less next year
C) JHF’s management approached Port about their intentions, not the other way around
Adelaide aren't in the equation this year. We'll see how desperate he is to return home if Port are no longer a viable option for North.

Checking out is a sign of a poor attitude. If that's the case, I can't see him having a long & successful AFL career.

Your own club president is on record stating they've been chasing him this year.

We’ll be the ones deciding if a deal gets done

Port nuffies on here still don’t understand we have the final say and the leverage

The onus is on them to pay overs and more than what’s on the table now
Yes and no. The final say sorta falls with Jason himself as well. He’s making it clear he has no intention of being at North next year.

So what you're saying is they don't have the currency because they didn't do the due diligence to have it ready to begin with?

Absolute amateur hour from Port.

No, WCE wouldn't. We offered overs for Kelly in his first year and got denied,a s Geelong didn't want to trade him. We than paid overs in his second year to ensure the trade got done.

We didn't go shopping with an empty bank account then say to the cashier "take it or leave it".
You clearly didn’t offer overa for Kelly in the first year otherwise they would have taken it.

Not to mention that they've dived into the West Coast dumpster fire to try and deliver a top 5 pick as requested. At the end of the day, Port can only offer what they have to give, and I think if the trade falls through I think from Port's end they'll be disappointed but will know they couldn't have done any more considering the short notice of the trade request.

This is probably the 1000th time this has been said on this thread.

You do understand Port don't have to agree to any deal too right?

Realistically he would of been pick 2 if Daicos wasn’t a fs and north are acting like he’s Chris Judd.
So why did Port waste everyones time on a lowball?

Port can give more if they sweeten some other deals

It's not impossible

Time to throw some players up
