Toast Jakey Neade - Punched above his weight!

Thanks Jake. Those first 5 games you bamboozled all of your opponents. First 2 years played some outstanding games. But then was asked to play in a dumb manner and his lack of size meant he was only ever going to be a fringe player. Can't ever question his effort and drive.

I reckon some players just have a low ceiling and can play well for a couple of years before they get worked out or stagnate and fall behind.

Pittard, OShea, Young, Neade, Hitchcock all good examples IMO.

It’s also partially that players look waaaayyy more capable when their team is flying.

i never realised he was that slow

He kicks the goal to go 43-0 up on Richmond, and the blokes to make contact with him were Hartlett, Schulz, Polec and Pittard.

I don't know what any of that means exactly, but I remember thinking man, future's bright!

Remember that time he cleaned up Dusty Martin? Was like watching Muggsy Bogues dunk on LeBron.

Great EF performance against Richmond which plenty has already been said about

The other standout play was against West Coast round 5 2013 - Neade’s evasive dash along the wing was awesome to watch

Yet another current player coming out and saying that Chad never wanted to leave.

He had a contract.

He did not have to leave

And yet he left

It was his decision

He was not held at gun point and walked out of the club by the nasty Port Adelaide coaches

He could have stayed, put his head down and committed to his fullest capacity to rectify the short comings that were pointed out to him or to prove his detractors wrong

But he was obviously offended, spat the dummy and walked

Wont lose any sleep over it

Primus couldn't get rid of Kane despite his best efforts. If Chad genuinely wanted to stay, at least for 2019, he'd still be on our list. I'm not interested in where he was planning to be in 2020.

I think it's fair to say that Kane Cornes and Chad Wingard have very different personalities.

Maybe the way Chad reacted to the club floating him as a trade option reflects poorly on him, you could certainly argue that. But he would never have reacted that way if the club hadn't floated him in the first place and given him something to react to.

kane was on a contract that most clubs wouldn't match let alone increase.

Clubs tells you they don't want you anymore, wont put a new contract in front of you and you have 5 year significantly higher contract from another club in front of you. I don't think there would be a single player that wouldn't leave at that point.

True. It makes having some clue about Wingard's 2020 plans relevant. As I've posted before, no one is innocent here and I'm very disappointed in the club.

Fully appreciate the point you are making, but I'd suggest both Gary (Collingwood this year's finals) and Mason (that PF a couple years ago) have each had games that far exceed the value of the combined output of, say, Jed, Cam, Sam and Jake. No one does spuds up forward quite like we do.
Jake Neade kicked three goals when we smashed Richmond in the 2014 Elimination Final. And was listed in our best in that game.

This bump on Dustin Martin that created our second goal.

I maintain Jakey was good for us in his first couple of years, I reckon he lost a yard early on from there.
