Maybe the clubs injuries official lists submitted to afl house aren't available to the public?

Yep, if the Darling injury is correct then the reason we wouldn't report it each week would be Jack wanted to/was ok to play through the injury.

This is not out of the ordinary though as the opposition will always "test" out a player to see if hes up to it when they know he's playing hurt and let's face it, we weren't exactly flush with replacement players either.

Let's be realistic. Clubs mislead opposition with injury reports. Know this for a fact. (Don't ask me to prove it)

Wife's side is related to the Toia's. Luke played for Freo. Recall the club reported a hamstring strain when in reality it was a hand injury. They didn't want opposition targeting the injured hand when he came back from rehab.

So what the club reports publically may not be the truth and that's across all clubs.

I think it’s unnecessary to report on a player’s injury if it’s not keeping them out of the side. Especially in this instance when opponents would deliberately target his ribs if they had have been aware of it

And it’s normal practice league wide for injuries not to be disclosed if it they’re still playing

What legal issues would there be?

Assuming Darling was told he had a cracked rib and was happy to play I don’t see a problem

To what degree is a club responsible if they send out a player who is vulnerable due to an exisiting or ongoing condition? Is the choice entirely with the player or does the club and med staff have a particular duty of care to step in?

I’ve no idea what the legalities are, just throwing the Q out there.

That’s a reasonable question.

But that’s a discussion on whether the clubs medicos have been upfront with the player on the risks of exacerbating an injury if he plays. There would be a case if it was found a player wasn’t fully informed of the possible consequences

However, all that isn’t influenced by whether or not the injury is put on any list

If you want to cast doubts that the injury existed maybe do more than look up an injury list that is widely known to be incomplete and in this case, justifiably so

Maybe go back and watch some game tape to provide weight to your theory. But that would take time and research which is too difficult when you’re rehashing an article written by someone else

We didn’t make many off field changes, and less than some may have hoped, but I feel this appointment will be the most significant

His background is very good and if a club as well run as Sydney were happy with him, he must have been doing something right. (Note that there were personal reasons for him leaving Sydney to go back to Ireland rather than poor performance and they were disappointed to see him go)

Sounds great and all, but I'd temper expectations based off the words of a guy who suffered 3 ACL injuries.
