I'm not expecting a huge game from Cox against May and Lever. Cox gets most looks when we've got no obvious options on and have to go long to him (unless he's the option himself). Kicking long against Melbourne is the last thing you want to do.

He dominated them last year and tends to play well in the bigger matches.

The standard drama building from media in full swing thus week. An off hand comment from Gawn that Grundy "probably wants to prove a point" becomes a "Grundy out to prove a point" headline. The license that media takes with quotes is pathetic.
Then the Melbourne coach commenting on Grundy finally being at a club that values him blah blah. Don't value him enough to pay his wage though do they 😅? You'd think they'd learn from last year's "Collingwood are one dimensional" comment. Amateurs.

He was valued to the tune of 1mil per season.

He just didn't value Collingwood enough to perform to that level anymore.

But go ahead and give him a round of applause everyone. Farkin spare me.

I can agree with you on this. He is the only Pies player I have ever had an issue with.

Held the club to ransom by threatening to go back to SA and got the 7 year deal done. Then went to sleep, delivering minimal output, getting rag dolled by 20 year olds. He should have realised that his contribution was not worth the money we were paying him and that it was holding the club back. I don't know which other club paid that much money for a ruckman.

He never gave us much advantage in clearances anyway, always tapping to the opposition. Glad he was let go.

Getting ridiculous.

We seem to be the only club being affected week in, week out by the flu and covid.
No we're not. We're the only club that reveals it publicly before a game. And we're the only club the media seems to report on it. There have been plenty of players who have missed training due to illness, but the coaches only mention it after the game during their press conferences.

on top of Degoey and sidey, losing j daicos will be bloody tough. Our two best wingers potentially out. Hard to cover and all are goal kickers. Lippa is back but underdone match fitness wise. If we can jag another win before a well earned week off it will be very handy

Re: Grundy, he wasnt let go, he was pushed out. He didnt hold the club to ransom, we offered a stupid contract. People are making it sound like were were mugged, seriously?

The club admin made a stupid decision, probably caving to a greedy manager.

I think slagging people who leave the club is Carlton behaviour, no need to rewrite what happened.

Suggesting Grundy was lazy or somehow played dead is unbelievable, just a worthless opinion. He played his guts out every game I saw, fit or injured.
Be a good test for our ‘system’.
Yeah bang on.

It's funny because sounds like a bit of a nothing statement, like "yeah nah focus on positives " etc

With Flys setup it actually means something. We have a clear system and it has been working.

We've had a worse run of injuries than 15 or 16 clubs (I believe Geelong and WC, and possibly the Saints have had more players or more games worth of players unavailable). Some of them are keys like both rucks, or half our defence.

Apparently our forwards are a nightmare to match up because all of them play multiple spots. If Mihocek is getting flogged in the goalsquare he goes to HFF or up to high CHF. Ditto Johnson McStay and Elliot. Johnson and McStay help out the ruck too.

The defence is brilliantly balanced, matching talls and smalls well despite quite a bit of turnover (eg Frampton in, then out to the ruck and so on).

Our system definitely works, let's see if it can cover De Goey. I think aside from Moore he is our most irreplaceable part.

Like I said before if we win this it puts us clear of the rest, and the next real test will be round 19, Port in SA. It's not even July, so let's not get of ourselves of course. Fly wouldn't want that.

Not really sure what we will do if daicos also misses which appears likely. Will lippa now have to change roles to wing instead of adams role. Which means maybe Carmy comes into the hf/mid role. WHE or crisp to the other wing. There’s some shuffling needed. Allan is an option I guess, but that’s a big test for the kids first game.

I reckon he will shine with better players around him. The main thing is we have options.
Does our team get released today or tomorrow?

Great news re: Maynard and Cox being okay, and also McCreery of course. Fingers crossed Jaicos gets up… he would be a huge loss.
He has two days to improve to the point where he is able to play. I wouldn't write him off at this stage. Young blokes can fling away these viruses and afflictions and resume normal life fairly quickly. If it was me, I'd be on the side lines for weeks.

So one player may have it. I never trust Zerohedge media. Clickbait trying to make a name for themselves.
They may have missed one session, but Bruzzy & Cox were there today.

And if they have cold symptoms or covid, they may just train away from the group.

I'm guessing the club is just extra vigilant with anyone who has symptoms to avoid it going through the whole club & their families.

Josh could just be training away from the group whilst he has symptoms (or testing positive to covid).

nah, 6 of one half-dozen of the other.

we valued him until we decided to trade him.

we can argue about why, but truth is we did choose to get rid of him.

What's up with us and the flu?

I think we get the whole AIA centre fumigated and sterilised to make sure no viral bacteria is lingering around causing these illnesses.

I know we have a strict policy about staying away from the club even if you have a slight cold, but we have at least 2 to 3 players a week sick, and unable to train with the group....

Hopefully J Daicos is good to go, if not you would think Bianco gets a call up, just ahead of Allan, eventhough it seems the club is keen to have a look at Allan at some point this season.

All other clubs have experienced flu, covid & colds. It's winter. The media (and other clubs) just don't report it.
