Recommitted Clayton Oliver [UFA 2030] - clubs are interested, Melbourne willing for the right price

I can't see how this trade goes ahead. Unless Melbourne are wanting to pay a significant chunk of his salary, how many clubs have space for a 7 year $1m/year contract?

Seeing a new CBA was agreed on this year, more than you'd expect.

Adelaide would have that room. Sydney as well with Franklin finishing up as two clubs who were listed by Morris. Fremantle probably would as well.

Plenty, especially with the new CBA.

Mate what’s then stopping people adding that clause to any sort of post insinuating crap like this?

“Oh there is a rumour that player x went to Thailand and got arrested for snorting x of Thailands locals in Phuket, but not confirming it, just a rumour guys”
The social media equivalent of 'alledgedly'

This has some similarities to Grundy last year, but also some Trealoar 2020 vibes.

Clarry has been so durable during his career that we never got to see what a Melbourne midfield looks like without him.

We got to have a look it and we saw that they were still able to hold up in the middle even without him, and they also have pressing list needs they need to address in other areas of the ground.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Demons have decided they need to give something up in order to get something back and ultimately they felt like they can absorb the loss of Oliver more than they can Petracca (ability to go forward) while still getting a huge bounty for him.

We still haven’t heard anything about what Melbourne plans to do to address their fire forward situation.

I wouldn’t be too surprised if these two things converge at some point.

If I’m Melbourne, I’m asking about Oscar Allen, not pick one (I believe they were one of the clubs chasing Oscar earlier this year), Logan McDonald or Naughton.

Hogan would be ideal, but I think we can put a line through that happening for obvious reasons.

The other option would be trying to get Cadman out of GWS.

A forward line of JVR, Jefferson, Cadman could be lethal, but I think it depends on how long Melbourne think they’re in the window.

Other bargain buys could be Bailey Williams, who could also back up Gawn in the ruck.

I think McKay is too one dimensional for what they need and Lobb is too much of a Prima Donna.

Any reason Melbourne haven't come out and strongly denied these rumours?

Right….. remember the swiftness with which they released a statement about the accusation leveled at Goodwin and the board in that court case?

You’d think they’d match that energy, yet all we get is crickets

Didn't know the mids missed all those shots at goal...
You were obliterated in the Midfield
Yeah, 1 shot at goal among the 'famous' 4 and 30 turnovers.
A game of 'rop-a-dope'.
The difference between a smart team and a dumb team.
Any team can increase their inside 50s significantly if they just kick and hope.

The game has gone beyond that....and maybe beyond Melbourne as well.

I think this will be the norm.
Pies just won a premiership with a list that may only represent 95% of their cap.

Cadman isn't a 'win now' forward. At least Hogan would be, as strange as that feels to type that out.

I think west coast, north, Melbourne could trade.
1 for 5,24,Oliver.
North then get Oliver for pick 2.
So west coast lose 1, get 2,5,24.
North lose 2, get Oliver.
Why would Melbourne do this?
