If we are the real deal we will win without him

Yep - the optimist in me says 'at least he's missing Brisbane in Brisbane' which was probably an unlikely victory regardless.

As long as we bury the Tiges - will be happy with Jacob returning against at 1-1..

Can’t wait to have another crack at Brisbane in the opening round. Leading that PF by 5+ goals and losing by 16 points after 4 goals in 3 quarters was a biter pill to swallow.

Our game plan for that one should be kick it where Harris Andrews isn’t. :p

And maybe make Coleman slightly accountable .

I trust Marchy Gov Williams Saad boyd kemp Newman to get it done

It's actually a great test for us. I rate Weitering as valuable as any in our side. Having the others being able to step up and work well as group will have enormous benefits later on

Young will have a chance to re establish himself

Lions very tough to beat at home with or without Weiters.

Lynch will be severely underdone if he even gets up. We won’t lose out on too much against the Tigers.

Don’t think this alters our start to the season too much. But it is annoying.

Young should just sit on Daniher and Marchbank on Hipwood. The key will be how we support them.

It's our improved midfield and running power now that has me confident for a win

didn't say that.
no, but the poster who I was asking the question of, did say that. All for discussing injury managment and prevention, but "inordinate" hyperbole isn't discussion.

Watched a few Russell vids when he was recruited. He seems to have a practice of keeping plenty of data about a players physical and mental wellbeing, including sleep. Pretty sure he'd be using it all to understand every instance of injury.

We're not privy to who else would be contributing to that analysis, nor what they do about their findings.

On ACLs specifically, I wonder if they do that suite of exercises that Doc went to the US to learn after his second ACL. Would that sort of strengthening help prevention, not just the recovery of an injured player?

Interesting final question, and a great debate. I am fairly certain in our professional environment with a guy like Russell, there would be an amount of “preventative” exercises across the board. Doubting they would be on a full, dedicated ACL strengthening program(rehab).

Back in the dim distant past, when I was “super fit”, I rarely suffered injury during my sporting events, but had plenty of strains and sprains resultant from relatively innocuous day to day activities. “Fine tuned” can actually make people susceptible to injury from other seemingly passive activities. The level of “alternate” practices like Pilates for instance which is now adopted should minimalise this happening.

The posturing on here apportioning blame for injuries on fitness staff are infuriating. Russell is universally regarded as one of, if not, the best in the business. There was a time Teague was not allowing him to do his job, which inappropriate sullied the performance of the group, but we should be very grateful we have him.

Injuries happen, and are part and parcel of sports involving extreme exertion and more so where contact and significant direction change is involved.

Important point. When Doc did his ACL the second time the club got in contact with some "Guru" in the US. Doc went there and so did Russell.

Apparently, they were very impressed and learnt a lot. Doc hasn't had an issue since

They used the exact same program with Williams in his recovery.

Interesting indeed, I asked about him about 2.5 hrs a go and that's what I got.

Maybe he meant full speed or something I never clarified.

It was very light.

I'm told they are delaying every stage by about a week. Not that there is any issues but being extremely cautious and with bye after 2 games why rush.
