Arrogance.

This club is kidding itself with the crap it’s been spouting the past few weeks particularly one after the GF and off season and two after last weeks inept effort.

We aren’t making the eight with our draw that’s for sure and will join the long list of losing grand finalists to meekly disappear into irrelevance the following year.

No doubt Fagan will offer up his usual BS excuses and learnings 🙄
Why did you quote that guy just to rant about something unrelated

As a team, we are not fit, especially our midfielders and half forwards and backs. We struggle to run with most teams. We were gassed before red time of the first quarter last week and this week.

We have a few burst players; Rayner, Bailey, Cameron, who can't impact contest after contest.

There is also very little movement off the ball. With the exception of Neale, we are very static at stoppages.

When the ball is in dispute, we hold our ground, while many of the opposition are on the move and able to react faster to a loose ball.

Our forwards rarely create space for each other, for one to lead in to, for an uncontested mark.

We have a lot of less skilled players; Robertson, Answerth, Gardiner, McInerney, who actively look to give the ball off to our better ball users, even if those players are under immediate pressure from the opposition.

We look like a team lacking confidence, with many players second guessing themselves and what they should be doing.

We also look like a team that plays a system that relies on just a few players to be our game winners, and if they are out of the game, our second tier group of players are incapable of stepping up, and our role players are scared to.
We have a winner
Nailed it

A lot of players are in their comfort zone, someone at the lions needs to rattle the cage to wake them up as Fagan believes you keep sticking with the players no matter what. And what i mean is drop them nd if they have any backbone and character they will respond and if they don’t delist or trade.

Honestly no idea how we do not get beaten more in the last few years
All you need is
1) Strong powerful mid who can break lines. Fyffe, Danger, Degoey, Bont etc etc. Which we do not have
2) Speedy mid as our mid is slow
3) Add someone with speed on wing or HF line
4) Intercept defender to pick off all the high balls Hipwood, Joe cannot mark.

and we done.

0-2 is far from ideal with a pretty daunting fixture this season. Obviously very early in the season but giving up two 8 goal runs in back to back weeks probably tells us that we are a long way off. The crazy thing is with a team full of flair players, we had absolutely nobody who could spark any life into the team tonight. It felt as if we just sleep walked into a 5 goal loss and did nothing about it.

At some point Rayner is going to need to develop into a good footballer because right now he's a 12 touch player who kicks less than a goal a game. It's simply not enough.

They at the least need to maintain an acceptable level of effort against the Pies otherwise a year that showed so much promise could turn into a disaster very quickly.
The concept of Rayner's BREAKOUT GAME...A HOAX.

Bit miffed right now tbh might be time to toss a few babies out with the bath water
You saw the warning signs at quarter time. 🎯
Now this won't happen you know this. One more week for learnings.

Not much use tipping a bucket on individuals.

Poor playing and coaching performance.

No answers except what we're doing at the moment and have seen at various stages in the past doesn't work.

Same thing as last week, kick a few in a row and we think we're cruising then we get it handed to us. We've got 2 wake up calls now hopefully they wake up.
It's 0-2 in a 23 game season it's hardly panic stations but if you look at our draw, it's a tough away game draw and that was one of the more winnable ones.

The good news is that this start to the season isn't too much worse than 2021 and 2023, but it's frustrating that we've now had 3 poor starts out of the last 4 seasons, with seemingly nothing done to address it.

Might be good to give Dev and Lohmann more time and see. Maybe Prior or Sharp as well.
I said many times Rayner and Berry have one great game then a good game then a few you wonder did they play.
Both played enough now not to fumble all the freaking time. Not like there spot has any pressure on it.

Oscar honestly needs a game in the 2s
Oscar just looks done so far this year.

His howlers are miles below AFL standard. And too frequent.

He also finds it impossible to take a mark. He used to be a reasonable mark. Maybe he's just burnt out and needs a reset.

At the game you could see why a 3 tall set up is preferred - plenty of ball in Q2 but no targets in F50 with 1 tall. Big O’s decision making was appalling. Rayner and Bailey a distance off being real midfielders.
