Look, to be fair Bicks’ is an enthusiastic watcher, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

The evaluation part is hard.

For all the amateur watchers who always give their opinions on how everyone is going to be great; the question is always out there - if you don’t know what to look for, how can you predict who will make it?

The reverse being true, a proper evaluation should also include those highly rated players who you don’t think will make it. They’re both sides of the same coin

On average, 50% of the top 10 and 50% of the first round will disappoint

So if you can’t tell which is which, then what are you doing?

But as I said, it’s hard. I just think instead of throwing a thousand darts to the wall saying who will make it (and then point back to a “good” call) you should also back who won’t

Or maybe their list is pretty good and Bevo is just as bad or worse than Nicks? I know he was their premiership coach, but that was him getting his players to attract high level tackles, and a fairy-tale result wanted by the VFL.

He is a massive disappointment.

2016 was good, but extraordinarily lucky to receive a ridiculous run of free kicks. It was one of the very few AFL Grand Finals you could say were at minimum influenced in part by the umpiring.

They've had two good seasons since 2012 - meanwhile, they've been gifted multiple top picks through NGA and father-son.

It's one thing when you don't have the list. But when you have what the Bulldogs have, and it's all coaching ...?

I was surprised with essendons game plan they took off a small mid for Bailey Dale.

Naughton is not worth the hype. Hipwood levels of over-ration.

Bont is a true superstar. Libba getting on and offers not much more than a better version of Laird. I like Treloar but I don’t think he’s elite.

Given their depth in the forward line and Naughton’s inability to impact consistently, I don’t know why they don’t put him In defence more often. IMO he’s really overrated for what he does.
