I never get the feeder club view.
It's things like the Petracca trade:

Pick 7, Pick 8, Pick 37, a 2026 first-round pick and a 2027 third-round pick
for
Petracca, Pick 24, Pick 28 and a 2026 second-round pick.

That's 3x first round picks for Petracca + some upgrades on their second rounders.

Madness really. He's worth 2x firsts at the absolute most, and I wouldn't pay that at his age.

They just pay overs and feed out picks and players because they can.

Most popular beer in this country apparently.

What is wrong with people

I was talking to a co-worker about beer after telling him I was going to a local brewery/Pizza place. He had been there before and said that their Grapefruit IPA was their best beer, which was a decent call amongst the good brews that they do.

He then went on to tell me that he likes GN and Carlton Dry because they are easy to drink beers, you can just "down them" and I basically vomited into my mouth. There are so many decent beers out there that people shouldn't feel the need to order that crap.

They had 5 academy players they just needed points to secure with. They are playing a different game to the rest of us and draft picks to them are values very differently. To add to that, its a game they have played every year for the last few years so have it down pat on exactly what they need to do.

For people who want the appearance of drinking beer but don't like the taste

Every now and again I get caught working behind a bar. There’s always someone that wants a pale ale and being told we can’t stock it, respond with, “I’ll just have a Northern”. I’ll never understand how someone goes from wanting a pale to choosing a northern. Even an averagely put together ale is magnitudes better than a hint of beer flavoured soda.

I don't want to drink 10+ beers to get drunk. That's why I drink a few 8% IPAs and I'm done.

Anyone interested in SOA? im really not sure that leaving out 3 quarters of the footballing public from this experience is the best idea. Why would I want to watch the big V play again. Every time there is a match like this the AFL trotts out the big v like they think a majority of australia want to watch them. You just know 100% next year it will be SA v Vic then the rules will change the year after when SA plays WA the Big V will play the Allies.

So basically everyone else just works around Vic.

I think its a bullshit game and I wont be watching it purely because of the half arsed approach to reinvigorating it.

I just don't get it. There are some decent pale ales and Pacific Pales on tap for ordinary drinkers and lots of local breweries do a fairly decent Lager or Pilsner. I'd understand if GN or CD were like 3 bucks a pint why people drink it but it's the same price

Boags premium larger ticks all my boxes.
A real beer that tastes like real beer.

I’ve always enjoyed Boags Premium. There used to be a Hahn Premium which was a good beer and Cascade had one too, but haven’t had either for years. Very much in the Steinlager/Heineken style. Something that shits me these days is that it’s very difficult to buy fully imported beer.

The beer de jour depends very much on the weather. But there’s no weather that makes GN a preferable drop over nearly anything else. Its popularity is pure marketing. The P that stands for product is weighted very low if you enjoy drinking beer.

Agree, that is very strange. Can't drink any of the draught type chemical beers like GN, XXXX Gold, West End Draught, VB etc. Ale of any type will beat those.

I reckon anything on tap usually carries the day against a can or stubbie. There’s a couple of exceptions though. I will say that I don’t mind a west end draught or VB on tap. To be honest, and I know this will have me kicked out of the club, but I’d choose either of those on tap ahead of a pale stubbie. spenze, I hope you still speak to me.

I have experienced a few that I didn’t enjoy due to bring a bit too ‘fruity’ for my palate. But there’s some absolute crackers out there too.
Fox Hat and Prancing Pony produce two great IRAs (not quite the same as an IPA, more malty and less hoppy than an IPA), but they'll put you on your arse if you have a session on them.

I don't mind Boag's although I rarely see it on tap, although most pubs stock it in bottles.

Only place I have found Boags on tap has been Sydney and that was maybe 20 years ago and that pub had everything on tap.

If it was a choice between CD or GN against WED or VB off tap, I'd have VB

I tried to get Boags draft on tap at the golf club in Alice, rep was against it. Lion had no other decent draught, but they push what they invest in.

I got munted on the ferry to Tasmania years ago on Boags draught. Overnight trip, wife went to sleep and the ferry had this tiny horseshoe bar that could service 6 and imperials were 2 bucks (it was over 20 years ago but even then it was cheap) so everyone bought rounds and talked crap until the bar shut at 1am

Good times

IPAS are disgusting. They arent beers.
I’m obviously a different breed. My all time favorite is Pirate Life Imperial IPA. I could suckle that bad boy any day. Thankfully most places do ginger beer these days when they don’t sell beer
