There’s too much focus on McKay and Curnow IMO. If we go to them 50 times and they kick 5 goals, that’s a conversion of 10%. The measure of success has to be goals as % of entries.
We miss Jack Martin as that other target.

Not converting our chances umpires killed us

Collingwood, Melbourne and Sydney next 3 weeks will test us
The Cats have the most worrying forward line of the lot. Against the Pies I’d say Cerra is out most important in. Against the Dees, Gov will be a massive in as they’ll go tall up forward. As for Sydney, that’ll be a good old fashioned scrap.

Yep 4 losses on the trot are coming, we have that same feel as early last year.Saad Gov and Fog only players we have of any quality to come back too, 3 players not 8 like some posters on here think.

So, you don’t rate Cerra. Or Martin. Or Motlop. All three were huge in last years final series.

I’ll give you Cuners… though we could do with his silk.

All our clearance and contested advantages were swept away by having no answer to Geelong's rebound, overlap transition and Danger's hammy kept us in this one. They're a well organised side and we are very slow through the middle when the rebound comes, felt sorry for our undermanned defence.
It was a frustrating game, looking forward to see how we respond next week to the Pie's pressure and elite ball movement.

Durdin, Owies and fantasia don't crumb

Disappointed, we were sloppy with disposal esp moving into forward 50 and missed a lot of goals.

There was plenty to like though, Pitto and TDK worked well but our forward line was pretty messy so Tom didn’t make the shots he got last week( not alone there).

We need to be even more ruthless next week against the filth.

Was that loss as bad as some are claiming? Cos Geelong are good.

Our game plan looked clear, we delivered it but we were clearly showing our missing best players and our young lads (Binns, O. Hollands, Cowan, Young) plain and simple got found out.

To me we lost it and will win the next one cos these blokes will be back.

Foot skills miserable on field - Cerra, McGovern, Saad fix that.

Defensive transition run woeful - Cerra, Doc, Saad fix that.

Goal kicking - a bigger problem.
We are missing a punishing small forward. Owies, Durdin just not up to it.

Pitt looked so good today and our game dropped off when he did in Q3, but it really murks TDK’s role.

It’s my fault I didn’t go to the pub to watch.

Soz.

Junk time was when we were 5 goals down with 6 minutes to play. The game was over. Those goals we kicked were never going to change the result. Geelong stopped knowing they were going to win. Junk time.
It wasn’t over at all - we were still in it with 3 minutes left - having just kicked the last 4 goals.

Don’t tell Acres his goals were junk time - he may just pay you a visit.

I thought we brought far more effort and pressure but just some s**t skills, lost our nerve for 7 minutes in the second and dropped our heads for 6 minutes in the last.

They have absolute belief when lining for goal and we have toss of the coin thinking.
I'd also say that the minutes in the last quarter where we dropped our heads were after we had three shots on goal that could have put us in front. We were demoralised. It is why I don't think our run of goals at the end was meaningless. We shifted our headspace from defeat to possibility mid-quarter (you could see Cripps trying to get us going). Make no mistake - being in the habit of never thinking you are out of the game is going to get us a long way.

He would elevate us big time - he is a freak and incredibly smart

Im not sure we would even be able to get him though - seems to entrenched with the filth
Remember Pratt said "Get the best, not the best available."

That said, both Martin and Motlop would have been handy.
Durdin started well but faded. Owies, well, I love his attitude, but realistically, he seems like a lead up small forward and that's it.
His tackling pressure has dropped off and he doesn't kick many crumbing goals for a small forward.
Maybe fitness is lacking? ie not getting to enough loose ball contests?

We were poor today.
Defensively we were towelled all over the park.
I thought it was worse game for Kennedy and Hewett in a while. Acres butchered the ball until the 2nd half.
Owies and Durdin should not be taken into finals. Fogarty, Martin, Motlop to replace them.
Pittonet, Kemp, Cottrell, E hollands were good with Cripps, Walsh, Weiters leading the way. Harry& Charlie missed crucial shots.
Disappointing day.

Acres went at 78% efficiency. 28 disposals and 11 contested possessions suggests he was pretty decent in that regard.

Walsh was in the 50s and McKay under 50.

Kennedy had 21 disposals at 81% efficiency, 7 inside 50s, 8 score involvements, 4 marks, 4 clearances, 9 tackles, 1 goal, 1 goal assist and 400 metres gained. It was a pretty solid game from him considering his role. I'm disappointed I left him out of my votes.

Hewett was quieter, not bad, but quieter.

We kicked ourselves out of the game, but it was a huge effort. 13 point loss given our injury list is an impressive effort.
Just about won every stat. esp.Contested possession, inside 50's 62 to 43 and we still lost the game. Opposition teams are crowding our defence, and running it out. Small forwards not enough pressure.
Backline undermanned, wait until our best 23 are back. We'll be hard to beat.

Weiters blanketed Tomahawk, but his decoy game let Cameron get off the hook. They work well together those two.
They certainly do.

I think H and Charlie are also building some sort of cohesion/better understanding but yeah we've got some way to go to be anything like those 2 - probably the best tall forward combo in the comp
