Blue on the verge of breaking an MCG attendance record for most consecutive games at 80k plus crowds

Starting back last year with the elimination final against the Swans (92k) then the semi final against Melbourne (96k) , round 1 tigers (83k) , round 7 Geelong (87k)

If they get over 80k against the Pies, it will break a 53 year record where collingwood had 5 in a row in 1970/71 .

This is where it gets to uncharted waters . After this Friday night's game, they have the following MCG games ( where only poor weather will reduce crowd numbers )
Round 9 v melbourne
Round 13 v Essendon
Round 15 v Geelong
Round 16 v Richmond
Round 21 v Collingwood

That really should be 10 games in a row of 80k plus crowds. Fair effort in my opinion.

So does that also come with the greatest bandwagon title?

May actually be right up there with the most useless stats/posts.

A greater population these days (particularly comparing with 1970 at 80% higher), including finals games, and who you are playing in the H&A are factors that contribute to it.

Next week is unlikely to get to 80k.

Still 5 in a row is a great achievement, even if you don't have to play the smaller clubs there.

If both sides win this week they will pass 80k comfortably

Blues spank the Pies and Dees lose, still a great chance

It’s a massive wagon with plenty still jumping on. Get on board and watch history unfold!!!

Pies are entitled to try and break this record. If they believe that they are the biggest club in the land, shouldn't be a problem at all

Only have to look at average attendances both home and away in 2024 and you'll find your answer.
Or the fact that 4 of the top 5 H&A attendances involve the Pies.
Or the fact that interstate clubs are attempting to drum up a 'rivalry' with the Pies to get their numbers up.

We already know who the biggest club in the land is.
No need to get excited, when you need to include finals and away games.

Round 22 Carlton v Melbourne at the MCG had a crowd of 68k.

As previously stated, feel free to break the record. Pies have 110k members maybe if they bothered to turn up they would comfortably do this every game at the G.

Isn’t that why MCG isn’t your home? You need to rely on the bigger clubs to help you get a strong a crowd in.
It's OK to play second fiddle to other clubs sometimes.
I'm sure Collingwood will one day be able to set a new benchmark

Luck of the draw....2 finals matches where Carlton fans have seen how many finals matches in recent times?

Richmond always draws a lot because Richmond has a lot of fans too and rd 1, Geelong Carlton only because both doing well and Carlton Collingwood always has a big crowd
