Like the Tim Kelly trade? Real good it did you guys after the one hit wonder flag.
Another stupid decision could be coming in a couple of years when Ried wants out. Not taking those God father offers for pick 1 may come back to bite.
🤣🤣🤣 Yeah godfather offers....there were non, your obviously a pricktorian jorno...😂😂
Year that one trade defined us didn't it...👍👍😂😂

It's a ripoff and everyone knows it.
Suns risk 6 getting eaten up for Lombard bid, Rioli is in contract & has B&F win & runner-up in the B&F when we made finals in 2022 only losing to 1 vote to a dominant Lynch, so it debunks oh u only won because Richmond are bottom.

If it was a rip-off the Suns wouldn't do the the deal, they are working with a different currency to other clubs.

If they went to the draft with 6, they would get Lombard but then miss out on Rioli.
This way they get both. they already bringing in a top 10 player in the draft + adding a top 5 player from another club? how is that not a win & you can call it overs/rip off all you like but you need to be prepared to pay overs for contracted players.

Ridiculous if true, considering we already had a pick near that before we paid offers to the Lions for pick 20.

I agree we should have kept one of the trades in the 40s and given 51

It is a rip off because rioli is not worth 6 and they would get way more in futures. But gc are stupid and don't know how to trade.

Freo 10+11+30 for Bolton+24
Rioli+30 for 6+23
QED

If Freo push a hard bargain we could make it 20 instead of 24. May even be better as 24 is the first pick on night 2 which gives it a bit more value.

Was 8 a rip off for an UNCONTRACTED Saad?
This draft is a fair bit stronger though, plus the pick swaps favoured Carlton not Richmond.

If they got the equivalent of #23 back in points or more (ala the deal Richmond did with Brisbane) I could see the justification even if it's still overs. I don't think a 30's pick really sweetens the deal for Gold Coast though.

It's not as bad as some are claiming, but it's still a hefty amount to pay for a B-grader who's 27. And given how many clubs were desperate for #13, they could've gotten something much better than Rioli for #6.

Actually there is one interesting comp for Gold Coast which worked out well for the club paying "overs" - Dion Prestia. Went for #6 back in 2016 despite being uncontracted and having missed lots of footy with injury. He was quite a bit younger, but that worked out well for Richmond....

Contracted 3 yrs
Uncontracted

Even in this draft, that's the difference.

Saad was only 1 yr younger than Dan at the respective trade times too, so the age argument doesn't wash.

Rioli is better than a B grader.

Compare the seasons they had before being traded and Rioli is a way ahead.

Not sure where Richmond get the pick in the 30's to get this done and really doesnt make alot of sense

Blair Hartley will probably be demanding #6 + #23 for Rioli + #51 and Cameron provided has enough points for Lombard will just get it done.
