Keep playing. You can do a marathon in your 40’s. I miss the footy team camaraderie.

I think umpiring is for ‘unique’ types. If you have played a lot of footy yourself you are probably not one of those suited to umpiring.

I gave away footy at 31 when my work (employment) demands wouldn’t allow me to continue.

If you enjoy footy then play as long as possible. I miss playing more than I ever imagined.

Sometimes I have dreams where I am playing footy and they are awesome.

In any case - Bellerive is a very nice stadium, good size and has a very nice feel about it.

Surely the AFL should just let them re- develop given the massive investment that has already gone into it.

Just building another soulless dome like Marvel is a backward step.

Put money into Bellerive (and UTAS in Launie) to upgrade both. The state government could then develop Macquarie Point for general purpose use, including some social housing, and everyone wins.

But, it's the AFL. And a state govt. So they're both the only winners, which is their modus operandi...
