I think that's overs. I think he's probably a first and a second rounder type of value. We had two very high picks and it would been too much to offer up. Maybe one of those and a future first with a second rounder coming back to us at a stretch.

They ended up being pick 8 and 10, which are two mid first round picks. i am definitely against swapping any pick under pick 5... but we couldn't even trade up substantially with 8 and 10.

We had to take what was left at 8 and 10, and no decent mid-fielders were on the table at that stage.

The Battle loss is going to be hard to cover and also hard to watch, plus with remuneration used on an injured player...who we might not see all year. Yes, I understand Alix could be anything if he gets up and going, but again an if.

I'm over Battle to be honest.

I would swap the two first rounders we had this year for Callaghan.

He's a ready made midfielder which we desperately need.
for the quality available in this years draft, that is a no brainer.
The guys we got will be nice players but won’t see us shoot up the ladder. Until we get a player like Callaghan we are just marking time (7-12 depending on fixture and injuries).

You’ve posted more than once about Nas leaving.

Are you winding us up here or you really think he’s gone?

Respect your opinion and I hope this is a joke
We are getting Callahan LDU and TDK. Someone has to go and I believe NWM wants to go back to Adelaide.

I love Nas.

I would take Callahan, LDU and TDK even if we had to lose Nas.

I don’t think we get any of those 3 let alone all of them.

I think Barrat has potential to outshine Battle once he has a couple of years on him.

Might be an interesting trade period. If NWM decides to stay we might find it hard to get everyone in.

Good. NAS should be untouchable. Draft one gun in 20 years and lose him before he gets out of first gear.

Agree, he's the best draft since Riewoldt ... he is a matchwinner and has the potential to turn games himself.

If we can't keep our superstars then there's a major issue with the entire system.

You think we are getting them. Nothing more.

LDU won't happen. And we won't be letting NWM go just so we can achieve one or two of those trades.

I'm assuming NAS will go - for no reason other than why wouldn't he be signed up long term if he was staying.

If he signs on and stays, I'll be pleasantly surprised. But assuming the worst saves the heartbreak later.

Might be banking on improving his market value this season before he signs on.

I would think he knows even if he's injured we are going to want to sign him up so why not wait and try and drive his value even higher with an AA calibre year

With the prevailing view that Brayshaw is now likely to stay at Freo. We should be looking to pry one of their promising young midfielders out. Erasmus, O'Driscoll, Murphy Reid etc.

Completely understand why many would be worried about the future of Nas - he is the best player we've drafted in two decades and possesses a quality that countless clubs would kill for.

If he was playing for a club like Collingwood, Carlton etc, he would be getting way more recognition than he currently gets. Sadly, we don't get to play on Broadway very often and we rarely get too much praise in the media - rightly or wrongly.

Personally, I would be doing everything in my power to get him signed up to a long-term deal, but everyone needs to know that he's in a really strong bargaining position. His manager would be telling him this too.

He will have both SA clubs throwing big money at him, as well as other clubs for sure. With that in mind, his manager will be using this interest to get the best deal for him personally.

However, only he will know whether he wants to go back home. From the outside looking in, he seems like he is fairly settled in Melbourne and has built some strong relationships inside and outside of the club.

Damien Barrett time - IF he was to leave... THEN I would be wanting a kings ransom and would want to know that LDU, Callaghan and TDK to come in during the offseason.

Well just to balance things out a bit I reckon Nas stays.

Took his time to sign when his initial contract was expiring. He was supposedly back to SA then, except he wasn’t.

People are acting like it’s extremely unusual for a player to have not re-signed with a year to run on a contract. But it’s not.

Anyway, I reckon he will stay with his mates and we will reward him extremely well for doing so.

Two years ago many were convinced he was going and he ended up staying. Hopefully he stays this time too.

Did we forward purchase? For the King? Knowing that the ‘Buddy Franklin Rule’ was about to roll out?

Because clubs are too stupid to manage their own risks.

Future trades is the same.
If clubs were allowed to trade two years in the future , some would spend all their picks for the next two years.
( Saints being one of them ).

Cooper Simpson might want to get midfield time too.
