We can dream that Carr has taken over and come up with a new game plan that isn't so easily dismantled in finals. We can also hope that the talent reaches boiling point like with Brisbane last year, god knows Fagan isn't a tactical genius.
Agree re Fagan, but a better version of Hinkley in many ways

The Lord has spoken!

Lord on pre-season
“I feel like it's been another challenging pre-season, like all of them. This is my fifth now, and I definitely feel like this has been the hardest. And I feel like this is the pre-season that the group and myself have made the most gains. We're in an incredible position. We're all fitter. We're smashing our PBs in the gym. So I feel like the schedule has been the same, but everyone's coming with an even bigger buy-in to get more out of the season. So I think it's really positive signs, and I'm just looking forward for the games to start to be honest.”

Four more years for a backup key position player.

Not as bad as the Marshall contract but still looking horrific at the present time.
What hyperbole!

a] the guy wouldnt be on big coin
b] it takes a good four years for tall kpp's to develop to consistent AFL level, and
c] he was wanted by Geelong and other Vic clubs

So why not lock him away and allow him the time to get there? I have no issue with it whatsoever. What I dont want is to see us keep rotating these talls every two years, like we have been doing for the last 10 years, and NOT giving them the chance to make it.

The guy is also 26 and is going on his 8th year in the league..

a. We don't know what coin he is on but when a player is traded in, it usually means they get a fair bit more.
b. As stated, he's in year 8.
c. He was backup in Geelong. In the last four years his games played are 16 in 2023. 4 in 2022. 15 in 2021. 14 in 2020.
d. Four more years for what looks like at the moment is a key position backup.
e. Because he has the perfect physical profile for his position, I'm willing to give him a chance but my patience is waning.
f. We gave up a fair bit for him. IIRC we split a future first for two low seconds to grease the wheels for Esava and Soldo. Once again IIRC that was pick 18 in a superdraft.
g. After the Marshall contract, Ratugolea's is the next worst contract on our books.
h. Essentially I don't like trading early stuff and paying over many years for a backup even in a hard position to fill.
i. I hope he makes it because we could really do with another KPP who rucks.

Is there a trial game today? Or am I imagining it?
My understanding is that there is an internal, but it is not a publicised one. Mind you they do match simulation nearly every week at this stage.

Main games are Feb 21 - Crows at Mt Barker, Mar 1 - StK at RSEA Park, Mar 7 - Internal.

Indigenous All Stars game is tomorrow.

So you can look at this 2 ways.

1. A different attacking style is great.
2. Our defence is conceding stacks of goals out the back, despite knowing the opposition's intent.

I think he means we are scoring more goals out the back because our forwards are playing higher.

That fits with reports we are going to use a faster, more mobile forward line that can run back into the space.

Georgiades kicking 5 in match sim is great but also a concern about our defence. Any idea who they've got playing key defence roles in BZT and Esava's absence?
