The ‘Piglet’ Watson had a crack at Crofty and he ragdolled the fat little pr1ck and threw him to the ground as well… I like this a lot! Crofty doesn’t take any shit from Piglet!

One highlight that stood to me was Darcy’s mark from Naughton’s kick that he marked right in front with arms outstretched.

There is not a single defender in the league who could defend that ball without giving away a free kick once he has a clear run and jump at the ball.

Yeah agree said the same thing watching it. If we can kick to Darcy's advantage on a lead to run onto then he is literally impossible to stop without giving a free. Was a great delivery by Naughton

Even though Croft is much bigger, don’t underestimate the strength you still need to be on your back, then flip the switch like that, regardless of the other guy’s size. Watson was trying too

Edit - this is a small Croft as well, he’ll put on much more size & strength

Don't forgot his Dad was a huge bastard. I hope the Defensive Apple does not fall from the tree, as I loved Matty Croft as a defender. He gave the Duck ( in his prime ) some problems.

I dont know about anyone else, but I am more optimistic for the season after last nights effort.
Commentators mentioned a few times that we had set the field up well to defend when Hawthorn were trying to move the ball, which says to me that our defensive system is in good shape.
Great tackling efforts even thought they didnt stick them all, but the intent was there.
Darce & Naughts working well in tandem.
Few of the pups showed a bit.

Good point I did notice the Hawks moved the ball back and sideways due to our very good defensive zone reminded me of 2016.

I couldn’t care if this bloke kicks 1,000 goals, happy the weak campaigner isn’t at our team. Him and Ginnivan pulling out of a kids clinic cos they got on the piss is so embarrassing. Even more embarrassing seeing their supporters defend it.

A well organised defence won't let him run at the ball too often though. We need someone to block for him (Hannan was good at this, West has his moments too)

Defences of the opposition clubs will so focussed on Darcy and setting up to stop his run at the ball that there will be holes and space that should bring in all our other forwards big and small such as Naughts, JUH, Weightman etc etc
