Sounds like Richards is training today. Bodes really well for our round 1 team, he's just so important to us and likely to show some improvement again this year given his increased exposure/experience to AFL midfield roles.

With Treloar and Bont out, he’s really our only mid that can be explosive out of the stoppage.

As you say, he is beyond important for this first 4-6 rounds.

No need to rush him.

Even if he’s well on track. Give him a little more time, Bring him back in round 2 against Collingwood. I think we can handle the Kangas without him.

Any other opponent in the first five weeks will require his experience, if he’s available l.

This x 1000. Or if he's ready.... sub option? Injection of pace & experience late in the game tends to be the way subs are best used.

If he was touch and go I'd prefer to get another week's conditioning into him. No doubt treloar is important to winning a game but he is more important to winning a final. I feel he is exactly the type we need to be conservative with.

In relation to Bont's estimated six weeks out of action, does the six weeks commence when he is first diagnosed as having an injury, from when Opening Round begins or from when we play our first game the following week?

From injury
But be aware they’re saying 6 weeks minimum.

Bontempelli is expected to miss at least the next six weeks, with a return-to-play plan to be finalised in coming days.”

I have no illusions.

I generally don't trust our injury list as the club has a habit of extending timeframes out without telling us

If Richards, West and Dale play round one we’re a lock to win.

Our depth is pretty solid to cover injuries, add those [emoji639] in we will field a very good side.

When your “worst” players on ground are Harmes, Vandermeer & Gallagher, that’s the same as last year essentially. That means we don’t need to dig too deep.
