Rushing back Milera, who has never been able to defend in his life, and now apparently can't kick anymore thanks to his copious leg injuries.

Undestandable that pick 4 "AFL ready" Draper can't break into our absolutely stacked bottom 4 midfield, I mean who is he going to knock out from round 23 last year? Crab? Laird? Sholl? Taylor? Berry? Dowling?

Extend Nicks now imo, before the price goes up!

The opposite of surprised, but with just the same level of disagreement. The way they've written it up there (especially the singling out of Nank as the obvious choice) it does sound like they've been scouring social media to garner public opinion.

These have included some absolute shockers, and some where we absolutely gave away a win on offer.

Forgive me for expecting the worst.

Starting to look like none of them are getting in, including Draper.

From round 24 last year, Dowling, Taylor, Berry, Nankervis, Jones/Curtin out, Rankine, Rachele, Peatling, Cumming, Milera in, plus ANB and Keane for Murphy and Borlase.

Who am I missing from the below, for months I’ve had Draper a sub possibility.

No. We all knew given half a chance for finals, based on 2023 and the beginning of last year Nicks will prioritise senior players and those with mature afl bodies. A fair chunk of us called it last year.

The questions in front of us are

1. Will Nicks drop under performing players?
2. Will Nicks promote rookie players like Curtin, Dowling, Taylor, Draper, Ryan etc or will he priorise games to Murphy, Schoenberg, Berry, Perdlar, Jones and Smith?

Nicks has proven to be consistently terrible in demoting under performing players and rewarding in form players at Sanfl level. Again, this is on Davis, Nicks was doing this long before he got here and it cost us finals in 2023 and 24. So will Davis demand Nicks be held to account for his selection policys.

I'm fully prepared for Milera to be included in the 23 for the weekend, considering he's been in the first-choice team all preseason long... but there's nothing new in that article. No official word, no sneaky comments from the club, just the fact that we continue to put him in the A team for match sims like we did all summer long.

Likewise, the comments about Draper, Nankervis etc being in the B team are not new, and not immediately concerning. The match sims don't have 23 players on each side, so there is inevitably going to be some players in the B team that get selected for round 1. We already knew that Draper, Nankervis etc are viewed as fringe players. The concerning part is that Milera doesn't even appear to be a fringe player.

He'd be one of the last picked. His trial & preseason game against Brisbane haven't put his selection beyond doubt.

Anything could happen... No Draper, no Curtin, Milera over Nank, maybe a surprise visit from Lachie Murphy! We just won't know how much to melt until the team is announced

I think playing Draper increases our chances of winning. Couldn’t have been more impressed after Lions outing,

Team almost picks itself with very few real final decisions IMO. Probably Milera over Nank, Crouch plays and so does Draper with sub most likely seeing him explode in the second half.

Not sure why we need Milera over Nankervis … is it his pressure, durability. two way running?

So the remaining questions are:

• Milera in without any games in the 2nds?
• fear that Draper won't get a debut?
• Curtin not exploding in the pre-season game means he somehow isn't in line for a best 22 spot?
• Nankervis one of our best performers every time he is asked a question, still not locked in?

At least we are not discussing who Smith or Murphy push out the 22.

I'm a fan but he hasn't even made it to the start line for our trial games.

Can we please see him roll through a few matches first? There's likely to be a fair bit of rust there not to mention question marks over his body holding up.

Full squad available, absolutely no need to gamble.

This is the PERFECT game to give them both confidence and a real shot at building for a nice season, at home against a middling opponent.

Decision making, composure, rebound, skill execution and not getting regularly caught HTB. Certainly NOT durability haha.

I thought Nank was criticised on here for a pretty ordinary end to last year? Maybe that’s my memory failing though.

I like Nank so don’t mind if he is selected just expect (and prefer) Milera myself if he is fit and Burgo gives him the green light.
