North will have a better 5 years than Collingwood. That would be a poor career move as you’d end up playing for Norf.

Shows when coming out of Contract how players find another Gear/Level that Season
He’s already elevated his game and earned a pay rise. Why hasn’t he signed yet?He found it last year though, when he was first moved to the midfield around round 4.
The longer the season goes the more he will be able to command. He’s already elevated his game and earned a pay rise. Why hasn’t he signed yet?
Not impossible. Maybe he could be enticed by a front-loaded contract before your youngsters need to get paid properly. He would be forgoing a couple of years of success during his prime age, though.I'd love him at Richmond. Won't happen though.
If he thinks he can sustain or improve his output, perhaps. Big risk when he’s never done it before and he could also cop an injury. If he doesn’t cash in before Bont comes back, I’d be worried as a dogs supporter. The longer the season goes the more he will be able to command.

Yeah you can never be sure with injuries, but in terms of output, at the very least we're unlikely to get Bontempelli back for another 4 weeks, and only Treloar will be returning to the midfield in that time so he's got at least another month of clear air.If he thinks he can sustain or improve his output, perhaps. That’s what I mean. If he can kick goals and collect 30 odd for the next month, he’s never going to get a better chance to sign a big contract, so I’d be worried if he wasn’t locked away by Bont’s return.Yeah you can never be sure with injuries, but in terms of output, at the very least we're unlikely to get Bontempelli back for another 4 weeks, and only Treloar will be returning to the midfield in that time so he's got at least another month of clear air.
Going by what Cal Twomey said talks will pick up soon
while the Western Bulldogs are expected to soon pick up talks on Ed Richards' free agency contract.
Having signed Naughton, English and JUH to big contracts. Who do you have to sign this year? Bont, Richards and Libba to name 3. Does one slip through the cracks? That’s comforting.

Initially I was going to agree with you but then I thought about it a bit more. You probably gave the Smith money plus more to Naughton, English and JUH, you also recruited Kennedy who would probably get 600K. So there is a bit of cash gone. Also Bont can probably get a little extra, maybe 200k. Richards would get a big rise maybe an extra 500k at the Dogs or more at other clubs. Libba is probably about the same maybe a little less. Then I saw that Darcy has a new contract. I assume it's at least an extra 500K more a season. Maybe more. Gone up from 150K to at least 650k maybe more.Libba does one year contracts and I don’t think he has many more in front of him. Macrae, Daniel, and Smith leaving put us in a good position cap space wise.
Your math isn't good if you think we trade out 2 million a year in cap space (without needing to considering we had an offer on the table for Smith and the others were contracted) and somehow have cap issues.Initially I was going to agree with you but then I thought about it a bit more. I get why you traded Macrae, Daniels and let Smith go. I think the cap still might be tight at the end of the season.

You’re assuming that money wasn’t already allocated to those players. For every pay rise, there’s a veteran who retires, or overpaid journeyman who gets delisted, or front loaded contract that comes down.Maybe my maths is bad.
Naughton plus 350K on previous contract
Kennedy plus 600K
JUH plus 300K on previous contract
Darcy plus 500K on previous contract
English plus 350K on previous contract
There's your 2 million plus a little.
There's are estimates. Who knows what else is going on?
Treloar from 650K to ?
Bont from 900K to ?
Richards from 500K to ?
Lippa from 650k to ?
I'm not saying that what I have written is the case. But you may have already spent that 2 million plus some. What is there for Richards and Bont?

Daniels and Macrae were both on good money around 700K. But you ain't getting Kennedy across for less than 500k in this era. So Kennedy for Macrae is about a 200K saving in my book. Agree with your Daniel for draft pick is saving about 600K. Let's say Smith was on a big contract from the previous era. He was young so lets say 500K.You’re assuming that money wasn’t already allocated to those players. For every pay rise, there’s a veteran who retires, or overpaid journeyman who gets delisted, or front loaded contract that comes down.
Daniel and Macrae had existing contracts which would’ve already
been budgeted for. Replacing Macrae with Kennedy saves $300k at a minimum. Replacing Daniel with the draftee Dolan likely saves $600k+. Smith leaving meant his money covered a bunch of increases for other players, and the club would have already planned ahead for JUH and English since it was obvious both would command large contracts.
Bont would be on less money (at least proportional to the cap) on his next contract. He's already had the big one.
More than anything else, the fact Daniel and Macrae left should alleviate any concerns about affording the perhaps larger than expected pay increases for Richards and Darcy.
I think you’re forgetting a few things. Players like Naughton and English likely had their boost (and even the boost figures are a little OTT) from departing players like Dunkley, Bruce, a hefty paycut from Johannisens post norm smith contract etc.Maybe my maths is bad.
