I’d pursue Maynard hard if available.

He’s exactly what we need. Can push Freijah into the midfield rotation as well.

Sometimes this team lacks a hard edge. Kennedy and Harmes were decent additions in that regard.
I get the vibe Maynard may leave the Pies.

I read earlier today he’s basically said he wants to stay but understands the business of football and will ultimately move on if it’s what’s best.

I don’t recall any player being be so open about it all. There was also a suggestion that the Pies may look to offload him as it’d land them compensation. In this hypothetical situation I don’t think the compo would be worth it for the Pies but that’ll depend where it lands.

I won't buy into the JUH/Bulldogs lost leverage argument until every last AFLMedia accredited journalist/work experience kid has had his or her thought piece published on the subject.

Honestly they are more lemming like than a group of lemmings as they rush towards the cliff of Me too.

Seems a bolted on Pie to me. Much loved by the group.

Trading Marra has turned into a near impossible to win situation.

Yes he’s under contract…for just one more season after this.

We can’t just up and trade him to Norf or west coast and get pick 1 - he has to okay any trade.

We know it will be Geelong, Brisbane, Sydney etc. teams that at this point never bottom out.

If we are actively shopping him because we genuinely want him gone for off field issues we lose leverage. God forbid if we pull a Stringer and publicly sack him.

I don’t see a way for us to get his true worth. We saw with Bailey Smith, in theory the onus was on Geelong to trade up and present us a good pick - they didn’t and it didn’t matter. Yes Marra isn’t out of contract this season but if we’re shopping him…

Is it a case of here today and gone Tomarra

Would love to get Maynard. Can plays lots of roles in the backline and add physicality to the group. Super solid with Lobbe, Jones, Dale to then add youth around

That is still dodgy.

You are worth $600k but we'll pay you and your partner $300k each instead and that'll free up $300k cap space for the team. Probably tax benefits for the player too to have it split.
More than dodgy.

It's spitting in the face of the rest of the competition.

Cal Thomey reporting we have appointed Port Adelaide’s Michael Regan as player acquisition and strategy manager.

Get excited everyone. Hopefully he still has some connections and was whispering in this man’s ear before departing.

Leek Aleer should be a huge priority. Having another big physical unit down back with some AFL experience and who's in the right age range would be huge.
Dogs asked the question in 2022, wouldn't surprise me if we ask again, specially if his gone.

I’m not sold on Leek Alir. His footskills are very ordinary.

Don’t think you can afford to carry ball butchers in the back 6 these days. His also mid 20’s so not sure is much scope for him to improve his disposal.

I think you can carry at least 1 as a KPD as long as they recognise it themselves and play within their limitations. Like Jones, knows he isn’t a precision kick and so never tries to bite off more than he can chew. Either get it in someone else’s hands or otherwise go long and wide

I think if you were able to get him for the right cost then it’s a no brainer. But yes his foot skills leave plenty to be desired.

Leek seems like he's been hyped up too much by the footy public and is going to be part of a bidding war between a few teams. Wouldn't be cheap - pass

If we’re targeting a key defender, it needs to a number 1 type. We already have plenty of 2nd & 3rd type defenders for the future and Leek seems to fit more of that mould.

I’m still worried about JOD not because of his ability but his concussion history. My guess would be he’s had 3 or 4 in his short AFL career and was very lucky not to get another one on the weekend.

Yeah, good mongrel player. Polarising though.

Failing Butters, I'd take Bergmann in a heartbeat. Good in the air and on the ground. Can play HB or wing.
