We were a tall short last week in the absence of Waterman, Harris Andrews slaughtered us down back in the 2nd half, hence J Williams in.
Graham is fit and ready to go, unfortunately Hall out, pretty straight forward really.
Long will need to improve this week, I’m expecting further improvements from Hewett this week.
Obviously Long needs to improve post injury. They must see something in him to persevere - I wonder what role he has been given?

I’m a big fan of Long, but he really does need an improved performance this week to hold his spot you’d think.
He hasn’t been attending centre bounces, so his role really is that pressure small forward who can generate goal assists and goals. He needs to do that.

I think it's important to realise that Long isn't playing as a Mid, he's playing as a small forward essentially.
Here is his mid work from last week.

He also had the highest disposal efficiency in the team last week.
Does he need to improve, yeah but he also is bringing things to the team.

3rd for Score Involvements
1st DE%

Might not be hitting the scoreboard directly but he is having an impact.

He had the highest DE% because he only had 7 touches.

I get you're looking for positives, but that's an odd stat to use.

It was an improved game from him compared to round 1, but still not good enough to warrant being in the side.

Mumbles Longmuir suggests Harley will get some attention.
He had a sizzling derby last year, hope he turns it on!
Might be some argy-bargy in this game.
Lets not forget the 9 minute mass bird, including Simmo, and how that all goes down on the day and in the media.
Too much fun is never enough.

The fact he has excellent skills is more likely the reason he had the highest disposal efficiency, the problem is as you point out he only did that 7 times.
He needs to produce more, and I kind of like how mini is backing him in, the boy has some serious talent.

Re the bolded - without knowing what his actual role was the bolded is an assumption.

Maybe he didn’t play his role the way he was asked. Might have run to the wrong spot(s). Might not have followed his opponent or applied pressure when he was supposed to

Or maybe he did but we’re guessing as to whether that’s the case

Did I think he deserved to get dropped, probably not. He was stiff

Not because he’s made way for Graham but because at least one other player should’ve been omitted first based on what we saw

Is it likely to change the result though. Unlikely

And provided it’s been clearly communicated to him why he was left out then there shouldn’t be an issue within the playing group around selection integrity
Shouldn't we all be celebrating the fact that we have the luxury to drop a player that "was a bit stiff'. The coach having selection headaches is a 3yr first.

Hall had six clearances in the first half and one in the second, kid did good but disappeared in the second half, coaches are in the best position to know if he can run out the game this week if he cooked himself last week.
I can't believe how whiny some of you are. In the scheme of things it doesn't matter, hope it spurs him on to play good footy and get back in.
It does matter in the grand scheme of things because this general attitude over the last four years is why we still suck. It’s a repeated mistake that I thought would change with a new coach.

Assuming the coaches know best is also so naive. Mini wants instant results whereas we should be aiming for long term success.

Should Brockman have been dropped based on the Lions game?
Same role, had 2 more possessions but 2 more clangers.
No tackles in the F50 to Longs 1
8 Pressure Acts a piece
Long had 5 Score involvements to 3

Not saying they both are doing enough at the moment but the knives out for Long but not Brockman is just silly.
Both of them need to find touch and looks like the coach wants them to do that in the Seniors rather than the WAFL.

Spot on. Mini should use AI to aggregate all the melts on BF and use the data to pick the team from now on. Success guaranteed.

Possibly true. But no doubt Mini will use this season to experiment to see what he’s got. Besides, there’s not much really hanging on where we finish (except a better draft pick).

With regard to Long v Brockman he could be playing them both as a ‘shoot out’ - seeing which he prefers. And maybe it’s relevant that the alternative is a WAFL praccy which is a bit below AFL pressure.

Yes I believe his contract says if we’re not top of the table at the bye he’s to be replaced by some of the experts on this BB.

I asked it to make a Worse possible current WC team and it gave me this line up. Don't even know where to begin, it did get Zac Langdon right, but he hasn't been on our list for years🤷

Forwards:
  1. Jack Darling
  2. Jake Waterman
  3. Oscar Allen
Midfielders:
4. Dom Sheed
5. Tim Kelly
6. Elliot Yeo
7. Luke Shuey

Defenders:
8. Tom Barrass
9. Jeremy McGovern
10. Brad Sheppard

Rucks:
11. Bailey Williams
12. Nic Naitanui

Interchange:
13. Jamie Cripps
14. Zac Langdon

Long better do something/anything tomorrow.

6 possies, no goals, no tackles v GC
7 possies no goals, 3 tackles v Bris

We're a man down essentially

Needs to at minimum double the Lions stats

Come on Noah [emoji123]

Not as naive as you assuming you know best.

Hope those around harley will rough up who ever is sent to him.

Agree, might even be a melee or two...don't mind that, like the good ol' days!
It all got a bit squeaky clean in the Simmo days.
As long as he doesn't get sucked into brawling too much, and makes it count on the scoreboard.
Hope it's a close game and we don't whacked.

I think you're intentionally forgetting the most obvious difference between the two in your stats, and that is that Brockman also happened to kick 2 goals.

He was awful, yet still managed to get involved late in the game to "save" his performance. Borderline pass mark.

Take those out and Brockman was arguably worse than Schlong. Still doesn't make Longs game any less bad. Also worth noting Brockman was reasonable against Fold Coast with 15D 3T whilst Long was straight terrible.
