This is the game where we need to dominate the ruck.

Yes Grundy has seemed like he has been carrying something but last game he was better against Freo and an extra week off should help.

I mostly say this because the vision of North training and Xerri like can barely walk properly so if he is in we need to go to pound town with him and make him feel it. If not who is their backup ruck Teakle?

Isn't Teakle injured? Thought I saw a few North fans say he is. Maybe i've misread that.

Yeah, Teakle. Got outrucked (by hitouts at least) by Reeves last week in VFL, with minor support from Goad. Kicked 1.4.

CCJ injured.

1 ruck and McLean should be able to handle Teakle, would go a bit smaller this week.

This thinking worked a treat in the GF against the Lions ruckman.

Tbf if you actually look at the stats you would see that Grundy had 7 clearances and 15 HTAs.
Fort and Daniher combined had 8 clearances and 6 HTAs.

Shows to me that our rovers had a stinker of a day not the ruckman

To add to that point Grundy was the best rated Swan on the park and the 3rd highest rated player for the game

this is the best example i know of where the stats are utterly inconsistent with the eye

Maybe your eye just isn't the best

Makes sense to me we had no midfield that day as Heeney went down and Chad and Rowwy had their pretty much their worst games of the season

Logan will come through VFL - restricted minutes for a few weeks

Caiden a chance for this week, as are Francis and Sid
Good re: Caiden, and Logan coming back in via reserves. Common sense.

If Sid gets the sub spot and Sheldrick misses (assuming Cleary for Paps), ok with that too. Though prefer we go to 2 talls forward.

That explanation is what comes from a shamble of a club with regards to conditioning.
They've been pushed in the pre season with a disregard to their capabilities.................which are soft.
You can't make soft players hard all of a sudden in one off season.

perhaps.

but memory is pretty good and i remember centre bounces where their guy literally playing on the alleged third best player on the ground grabbed the ball out of the ruck kicked it 50 metres forward and critical goals breaking open the first and second quarter routs. i would have thought those moments were indelibly etched on the ruck and not the smalls. but i could be wrong and the stats could say that because he tapped the ball to nobody (because there was nobody there) at some other stage that meant he had a good game

fair enough maybe it was him, knew one of them was injured in the vfl last week
Injuries was Fisher (concussion) and Ford (hammy). Teakle would be back up. Goad is a long term play as so raw and still growing into his body. His contract was extended during the week. Would wait to 1 hour before the bounce before confirming if X gets up. He is like Mumford 10 years ago and a wrecking ball. Poor Josh Rachelle had his ribs accidentally broken in a contest last week when X’s knee made contact in a marking contest.

I was going to say the same about you, Grundy was slaughtered on GF day regardless of what the stats say

Xerri just about the best going around ATM. Would be a big loss for you.

Well guess you just didn't watch the game well enough if your correlation is being beaten out of the midfield therefore means the ruck lost.

Correlation doesn't mean causation is a simple saying you haven't applied here.

Been saying it for what now 6 months that Grundy was winning first tap 57% of the time and of those 57% of the time 41% were going to the Swans advantage. It was the midfielders fault that they could turn a roughly 15% of RC to HTA in the Swans favour to win the clearances more decisively.

We had 15% more of the ruck contests be our hitouts to advantage than Brisbane (for the main rucks) than Brisbane and won the clearances by 1.
