First half our structure was fine.

It inexplicably went to s*** quickly after 1/2 time.
Mate, Mcrae changed his tactics up, and we, like we always do, never adapt in game.

You can blame the players for execution, that's fair game, but I can't remember Vossy ever winning the coaching battle.

There is so much wrong with this club.

Why is Voss on the bench and Hansen (Barker #2) coaching and addressing the players. Does the club at 0-4 (2-12) think they are that good, to not have the head coach coaching?

Why do Docherty, Hollands, McGovern, Haynes & Motlop continue getting games? (Suppose Voss has faith and he’s trying to keep his job)

Unless we can flick a switch and miraculously start running for 4 quarters, seasons done. Replacing the above now would give us some vision of what
we’ve got on the list and maybe a circuit breaker for the team.

Moir, Hollands, Lemmey all waisted/the wrong picks for us.

White been at the club 2-months, played his first game and already gone past Williams, Motlop, Moir, Fogarty as a small forward. He’ll probably get dropped for Evans next week.

I think we nailed Graham Wright as CEO, I just fear the board (non-football people) won’t let him do what needs to be done.

We desperately need to nail a strong (football pedigree)Head of Football. Then they and Wright need to nail a coach and recruitment team.

Am I in the minority thinking Docherty played alright for us tonight? Sure his first few weeks have been below par but thought tonight was a step in the right direction for him. Looked a bit more like the 22-23 version of Doch.
He got it a bit but didn’t hurt the opposition. Chugged around by himself a bit.
Why would you pick him up?

You have no idea why they're not in the team. Telling them to 'harden up' is both unhelpful to them and to a wider group of people going through shit they need time to deal with.

And if you want to have the chat that society's too empathetic and we need to be tougher, come into my town:
... and we'll set you right.
I have a very good idea of why they are not in the team and its not good enough

Voss

  • Pretty clear message at half time
  • Third quarter unacceptable
  • Game is played contest first ,- we were disappointing third quarter
  • We didn't handle the pressure
  • We're going to review it strongly
  • We didn't meet our standards
  • He goes into standards and behaviour rather than mindset. (Brick wall bullshit here for me)
  • Unusual how we lost as it had been a strength
  • Offers no explanations - being clear to be kind
  • Way forward is to accept what's happened
  • Discussion on selection is happening and is transparent and clear. We're settling the team and there's history in that. Giving them time to grow.
  • System only works if we're in it together
  • Our system is nothing more than showing up next week and playing another opposition
  • We have a method we go to under pressure and we didn't do it
  • We're clear on what we want to valueand didn't do that
  • A few days off to rest until Sunday
  • We must make progression pretty fast
  • We collectively own where were at.
  • We're good at supporting one another

Any mention of his “assistants”?

Honestly don't think we needed to change much after half time despite that second quarter. Of course, after half time we fully dropped our bundle and the third quarter killed us

Really disappointing effort.

Lack of will to win is mental- they need to find it quickly

If it pans out we gave up a high draft pick for Jagga then so be it. Won’t be critical of the club for trying to get the list better.

This is now all on the players. They need to turn it around. People can bag Voss all they like and maybe he should go, but there a few players on this list that also need to be moved on.

But the season is still young and there is hope. 2023 started in a similarly rubbish manner

I just don't see how that particular issue is on Voss. The players are looking for options, we've been effectively choked ahead of the ball, NO ONE is creating a target, so the ball carriers have such limited options.

Your key points about urgency, taking the game on, gaining territory aren't wrong though, it's just that they seem to jibe with what Voss has said publicly and therefore MUST be part of their preparation. Now if that sort of stuff isn't part of their training regimen then I think the whole coaching staff needs to go ASAP
When your opponent changes tactics to clog up and block your kicking avenues to move the ball forward, your structure needs to change as well to allow a running and possession based game to keep moving the ball forward.

We did not do this.
We actually did the opposite.
And we have for the last 4 weeks straight, which just doesn't make any sense.
Whatever the strategy is it is neither obvious nor effective, other than to slow the game down and have a rest even though we just had a half-time break.
I don't think we can simply change or game plan mid-season, Voss or no Voss.
This year is looking like a complete waste at the moment.
