Honestly think the biggest issue with Doc and McGovern is a lack of confidence.
I would have dropped both of them - but there’s never a better chance to regain confidence than a game against the Eagles away from Perth.
McGovern has been this player his whole career. What we're seeing now isn't anything different to what he's done forever. He looks a million bucks a couple of times but as soon as the crunch is on he's a huge liability. He's never been anything different. Lack of confidence is a very generous take on him.

As for Doc, I'd love it to just be a confidence issue, but he physically looks shot. He can't stand up to contact anymore, his balance and base strength looks gone. Aside from that, he's clearly avoiding contact as every game so far there's been a glaring moment of him shirking a contest. I really hope it's confidence but I doubt it.

McQualters job doesn’t rely on wins yet. That’s why. Voss loses this and he’s likely gone. He clearly trusts the 23 he’s put on paper

Voss was likely “gone” after the Richmond catastrophe anyway.
If he continues to trust these “experienced” conditional, salary siphoning frauds, he’ll probably get what he deserves sooner rather than later.
His best chance would be to work with and give opportunity to those that haven’t yet succumbed to the “country club” mentality that has plagued this club for years.
You just never know what you might uncover … maybe even a group of players actually committed to the cause …

They're doing it... bring Carroll in and get him to play Cowan's lock down role...

muppets...

This is going to kill Carroll's development too...

Lord being dropped... sure, he hasn't set the world on fire, but ffs grow a pair and drop the senior players who SHOULD be performing at a much higher standard... not a kid who's trying to find his way.

Doc got 27 touches...looks nice on the stat sheet, how about taking a look at how effective he is? Nah, immunity because of who he is.

Gov has been a disgrace to the jumper... not that that means anything these days... auto selection.

Motlop, Durdin, Fogarty, White... wow if it wasn't the Eagles I'd be confident they'd kick 1-2 goals combined.

Zac Williams... back to hb. How nice, a bruise free game for him where he might look good and cement that spot for the next month and become a liability back there again. That should be Carroll's role. Encourage the kid to play his game and keep Zac forward - he looked much better there before Jordan Russell sunk his infinite wisdom into him...

I can't understand bringing in a small forward like Durdin without dropping one of the many underperforming, useless small forwards... My guess is White is the one who is on thin ice this week. If he doesn't kick a couple and get involved, Voss will resort to dropping him next week in favour of dreaming about Motlop or Fogarty to do their job.

Getting sick of this nonsense.

Don't like Williams back at all, not for him or the side

I really hope he commits to playing a full game
I think we need some stability in the back six Arrow with Newman out, Ollie a bit of a liability as a deep defender and McGovern getting the occasional yips.

I think Weiters, Silvagni, Saad with Williams and Carroll would make our defence a lot stronger.

He's played 1 good career game in the midfield, and maybe 2 good games in the forward line. He won an AA at half back. If he can't play there, he shouldn't be in the side anymore.

Just not sure how committed Williams will be as a defender

Excited for Carroll and really hope he's not sub.

No point repeating the concerns others have highlighted about retaining certain individuals. It becomes redundant after a point and very frustrating.

Ultimately just need the win for player confidence

This game will determine nothing in regards to Voss.

We win, great we should have. We lose, I believe it will have a bigger negative morale impact than any further pressure on Voss's job.

Prefer to pick just one of Haynes or McGovern and play an extra runner like Boyd --
Seems to be some untouchables ..
The small medium fwds on paper look very ordinary -
Hope white can show something as we really need to find a bright spark in the front half.
Spot on. We can't carry footsteps and Haynes in the same team. One or the other, although if rather neither. We just don't need 4 talls in defence. Boyd just makes so much more sense but hey, Voss loves playing lots of talls.

The problem is, he is in self preservation mode now...

Which is a massive problem anywhere on the ground, but more so for us back there than forward where he has at least shown to be more capable than any other small forward we currently have on our list...
