Negatives
West Coast are worse team of the year. Take nothing but a win from this game.
Too many turnovers going I50 and bad goal kicking.
Too many easy goals with overlap run by the opposition. Better teams will put us away.
Motts needs to try and take first option and not do too much but can play.
Doc is lacking touch but will get there and Ollie Hollands will be a player - give him time.
Injuries to Kemp and Harry. Bloody hell - no luck.

Positives.
We won well.
Better movement inside 50 with shorter kicks.
Little Durds, Walsh and some others finding form. Need Durds to build on this.
Very solid first game by Carroll. White showed more again today - shows you need to play the kids for more than one game.
Hewett, Weitering, TdK in AA form. Cerra needs to play on ball and back to his best.

Next month is huge for 2025, starting now.

Durds was great.

Carroll will be great.

I hope we don’t drop White.

Walsh, Cez and Hewett monstered there 18 year old midfield. First time Saad has been allowed to do whatever he wanted. If we knew how to finish our work, we would have lapped them.

Not sure I'd want Reid if he was available. Seemed to have checked out 10 minutes into the game.

Sad about Kempy. And poor H.
I'd be worried if I was a WCE supporter. He really offered nothing today.

Happy to get the points.

Frustrated at the injuries.

Still quite a few doubts for the season ahead.

Carroll needs to keep playing, and the coaches need to allow him to keep taking risks. If they drop him, or they start coaching the creativity out of him, then they've got rocks in their heads.

Any of our forwards who don't lead aggressively at Cottrell are idiots. Showed consistency in hitting the best available lead, and his execution was a step up from normal.

Weitering + JSOS is such a good combination.

Ball movement in attack looked good, or at least better. Think we got away with plenty that won't fly against other sides.

On the flip side, we let them go end to end ridiculously easily far too often. Reinforces my suspicion that we still haven't found balance in our game - it's either attack or defence to the exclusion of the other.

A few blokes need a lesson in marking with their hands extended. Good leads and kicks turned into halved contests purely because our guys love a chest mark.

Gov buys a reprieve, was good. But needs to turn this into a run of form, not one out of the box. Doc's disposal still a massive concern, glad he got on the end of one though.

Assuming H misses next week and Kemp is out for a while, we've got some questions re: our forward mix. Very worried the "answer" the club look to is going to be Pitto as second ruck.

Who do we drop for Moo? Moving McLovin forward is just a positional change.
Moving gov will open up a spot for moo.. take your pick up forward… we clearly like to play 3 talls up forward and seemingly 3 talls down back. Just get Cowan to play taller instead of a lockdown role on a small.

Hes got a hell of an arrogance to him

However, he's done nothing to get away with postering the way he does. He's far from reliable

I definitly enjoyed watching him last year, but I do remember thinking he wasnt really a team player.

I'd probably stay away from him as I feel he would demand the world and could fracture team unity

If we play Carroll for every game this year, who gets dropped when Moo is ready to come back in?
Doc

He may have scored today but i still think he shouldn't be in the team.

You can see he doesn't trust himself to kick. The amount of times he looked to hand ball opposed to kick, resulting in pressure on the receiving player, was mind blowing. He constantly made poor decisions or his disposal let him down

I love the bloke he is but he is a massive weakness in our team

SOS is a sensational defender. Brilliant one on one player. Brilliant ball yser. Should have been there a long time ago.
Fancy a Silvagni being a great defender
