Really hoping Arie can take this chance. His disposal is his weapon but it will be a good opportunity to show if his defending has improved.

Also, all 5 2023 draftees named together. I believe this is the first time?

Our 2023 list additions, including the National Draftees. is looking to have been a very good haul for us. If we keep doing this we will get better and better.

Bonner who cost nothing the only failure.

Jury still out on Dow, though bar for a freak infection would at least have been a reasonable depth player.

Absolutely nailed it with Wilson at pick 18. Huge outperform.

Garcia at pick 50 is looking very good.

Henry a cheapish trade, just can he stay on the park being the only issue. He has a real spark that lights us up.

The others when you look at where they were taken all seem to be tracking well. Not all will have long careers, but as a group we look to have found some players.

Just hope we put in a better midfield defensive game than last week where Jones had little impact, Steele had no impact. Can't go into games expecting to win with two midfielders having no real input.

Quietly hoping Steele has a big one tomorrow night, I miss seeing him dominate in games.

Felt like I’ve barely noticed him the last couple of seasons, he’s been solid but used to stand out more, felt more damaging. Been a while since I felt like he was BOG.

Perhaps we’ve just got better pieces around him. Maybe it’s the difference between RTB and Ratt’s game style. He used to be a top 3 Brownlow contender.

2025 season so far:

It’s a bit early to get into season stats, and tbf, these are only slightly lower than his career stats, but I think he has a higher ceiling he could reach, esp. in the contest. Between Steele, Stock and Owens we have 3 bulls in each area of the ground I’d love to lean into more.

His tackling is his one wood so I’m always grateful for that. And he’s been banged up, but a fit, firing and damaging Steele would really tip the ledger for us, along with Macrae and Sinclair whilst the kids are developing and will have their ups and downs.

shows the impact nailing a few drafts close together can have on the group.

Add in our 2021 draftees, and thats the core of a sidebar the next decade.

This is some sort of haul. I'd say we've likely brought in 4-5 long term senior players here.

Collard clearly has the tools to make it and is looking good. Not a sure thing, but promising signs

Garcia is starting to show signs of being a player who can win contested ball and break out of stoppage. Needs to clean up disposal but the tools ae there.

Hastie is a year or two off having the body of an AFL defender but he has shown very good intercept marking and endeavour.

If Henry's knee holds up he will be a very handy player.

O'Connell is still probably a long shot but I really like what I've seen. If he keeps improving, who knows what he could be.

Arie is one of the best kicks in the league. If he can just become a semi competent defender he will a weapon. Understandable concerns on athleticism though.

Its difficult to pick Wilson's ceiling but as the very least he'll be a good winger with insane two-way running.

I'm not convinced that we've landed any AA level players in this off-season (wouldn't rule out Wilson and Collard though), but 4-5 important cogs in the team for a decade would be a great result.

the height difference was a worry,
But another look, I’m thinking bevo has gone too many talls.
Last week congested ground but on marvel we could get away from them, maintain possession, might run em ragged while their talls lumber around looking for a touch.

Yep if all 5 come on it's a ridiculous draft. Collard easily has the highest ceiling IMO but he'll never be an AA mid. A Charlie Camreon/Toby Greene like career would be nice though. And I think Hastie has all the tools to be Nas/Sincs 2.0....he's got some quality players to look up to.

The 2021 and 2022 draft probably contains the AA picks (Nas, Pou)

Is it enough to challenge the teams that have been gifted absolutely elite players (Pies, Lions, Dogs, Giants)...hopefully.

Didn't Basset say it takes four drafts to build a side? When you add NWM, Owens and Windhager to the names above you'd like to think there's at least the nucleus of a pretty good side there.
We just need to develop them well and top it off with some quality trades or FA.

I will happily swap Tobes and Alix with Harvey Langford. Just what we need.

Not sure Collingwood has that much elite talent. Naicos the best of them. Nas could genuinely be that level by the end of 2025.

Just looked up the list of A graders. Carlton, Melbourne and Brisbane both have 5 each. We have 4. Collingwood have a huge pool of B graders.
