The most furiated i have been at a footy game was when i paid 2,500 dollars for a seat at the 2007 grand final (all that was available) and some spectators around me said “ who is that no29?”....

Seriously??? How can people who have probably never even seen an AFL football before be getting access above die hard fans?? Who are being corporate priced out of the biggest day of the year.

I am lucky i have always had money, but i can imagine not everyone has the luxury to fork out stupid amounts to see it.

The AFL has no priority or care for the fans. Only the $$$

I'd actually play Ollie as a versatile sub, if he has a good few weeks in the VFL. Has played some wing, and can play deep forward or half forward. Could be a spark for a quarter, rather than play a whole game and act lost for 95% of it.

Right now, he's the worst player in our side, and it's not close. The amount of contests he shirks and amount of contests his defender gets to, he's just offering nothing. Needs some confidence, and needs to show some of what made him so good in 2023/2024.

Yeah you and I are on the same page.
I think a dip back into the 2’s to get confidence then bring him up as super sub is the way to go.

He has skill he just needs to put his head over the footy.
Seems he’s lost his confidence so getting that back is important.

Imho the ballot system is pretty good. Fair enough the people who pay more or get September memberships are entitled to it.

I've had a great run been to every GF with Geelong since 1995 except 2022

Unpopular opinion I know, but MCC members, AFL members, corporates, Medallion Club and the like should number no more than 15,000 tickets.

Players competing in the game should get no more than 3 extra tickets (Mum, Dad, partner). Players of the competing clubs should only get one ticket (themselves). The other 18 clubs should get diddly-squat.

I've been to a few GFs, and they are great but somewhat... sterile.

Hey bingo, 80,000 tickets. I know it won't happen, but it's nice to imagine.

I do get why there are so many corporate tickets, though. If each ticket is worth, say, $2000, and there's 60,000 of them...

I am genuinely enjoying having a few players with character and honesty in the AFL. Baz, Ginnivan (even though he's a twat, he's a great pantomime villain), Ken Hinkley, etc. We can't all be straight-laced Dangerwoods.

In 2015 they only reason I took them was so that a Hawks fan couldn't see the threepeat (I'm a petty man)
Even invited my wife & mother in law for a day out!

I paid 2,500 back in 2007.... So do the math on what that would be in todays value. Probs close to 4-5k

Yeah - the Corporate packages do sting quite a bit.
I went that way in 2007 , 2011 and 2022 - small fortune when you add in air fares and accommodation.
Well worth it though - being there live was frigging awesome.

Alot of people maybe not aware of this but when Leigh Matthews king hit Neville Bruns and broke his jaw 'off the play', Steve Hocking (our half-back flanker) saw the incident then proceeded to chase Matthews and with one merciless fierce punch broke his nose. Sammy Newman at the time wasn't aware to who broke Leigh Matthews nose but he went on to say that whoever it was should be awarded a medal, such was this a dirty and cowardly act..... Steve Hocking was never charged for the incident.
