The talk of the pregame stuff being a negative is utter nonsense..

They did an incredible job and I didn't hear anything complaining when we smacked around the Pies last year.
We've been doing it for 5 years.

Any player should know exactly what to expect

Agreed. You can only eulogise someone so much and we passed that point about 3 years ago. Time for the club to move forward instead of constantly looking back at 1 person.

If they want to do something mental health focused, then thats fine. But the circling up as we are meant to start, playing a morbid video then hearing a reflective speech needs to end.
Think Ross might have slightly alluded to this in his presser.
It’s enough.
It actually has the opposite effect and depresses the fans when we lose.
( slightly facetious for a serious topic) but agree with the rest of you. It’s a downer.

Another disappointing loss, but let’s be honest, we have holes everywhere on our list.
Our midfield just can’t compete with the elite midfields on a consistent basis. We haven’t replaced Battle as the intercepting defender (fingers crossed it’s Tauru), and we desperately need another key forward as Caminiti simply isn’t up to it.

Bad luck. Need King back. Delivery into 50 not great.
Liked Marshall’s game. De Koning was good as well. But you would be crazy to offer him 1.6-1.7.
He’s good, but so is Marshall and two rucks never work. Neither are KPP.
We have a shit load of unused salary savings that need to be spent. TDK would be getting massive front loading and would be closer to 1.4M on an ongoing basis. With the cap is increasing it's very affordable for us.

Carlton floods back to make us go slow

Big footy "How could Ross Lyon do this"
I can’t wait for ‘Ross coaches boring footy. The third and fourth quarter when we were dominating they had a spare back the whole time maybe even two and we’re just flooding their defensive third.

Anyways Voss sucks and should’ve been sacked last year.

No look over the head handballs:

I dont know if anyone else has noticed but in recent times our players when under pressure are prone to giving no look over the head
handballs. It very rarely comes off and just relays the pressure to a team mate. Perhaps this is a coached thing to keep the ball in tight, but if it is it is not working. Basically it invites your opposition in, which occurred last night and as a result we had a number of players getting caught wrong footed at crucial times.

Surely we should be training our players to drive with their legs and work to space and take on a tackler if need be. If available look to give handballs outside that inner circle ala Cripps and Newman. Because of our lack of contested marking prowess we rarely dump kick, but in such a congested game the handballing over top isn’t working either.

The other thing last night because of the congestion our very much outside players got sucked into the pressure circle, where they become a complete liability. It was disappointing to see the amount of contests and tackles players chose not to attack and the fumbling by so many.

Obviously our kicking to the forward pockets was a conscious instruction to restrict the ball being intercepted in the air. Carlton have a miriad of marking defenders Weitering, Silvagni, McGovern and Haines, but you have to wonder how other teams deal with it. If we are honest, if we had the players a number of our kids would be developing in the VFL, but our list is so unbalanced we have to play them.

I agree totally- where did this overhead blind handball come from..great if you want to turn the ball over.

There was one contested incident that I saw where he was in the primary position to take possession and he squibbed it ... didn't go hard enough ... half-hearted attempt ... stood out like engorged dog balls .... and the Scum took it away ..... wasn't good
Saw a few of our guys not put hard pressure on the Carlton players in possession. Pretty poor physical one on one game from a lot of our guys last night..almost like Lyon instructed the players not to get anywhere near your opponent, especially in the centre corridor. Looked like a Richo-coached game.

Lost 4 of our last 5

I tip my hat to anyone feeling positive.

Our disposal is shit..... still.

We need players that can execute.
It's just not always black and white. You can be positive about some aspects and negative about others. If you look at our forward line it is full of B and C graders. When we dominate midfield like last week we look good. When we break even or get killed it's very hard.

It's why it's so wrong that people say we don't need King.

The forwards are young so there's upside but it's a struggle. Our one A grade forward last night was obviously sick and got subbed off.

There were still some things to be positive about last night. We really should have won though.
