Yeah yet them cat ****ers win the battle, next time we meet them is the wide expanses of the MCG or Marvel, where we cream those old timers.

Couldn’t have played any worse and they won by a solitary 14 points.

Williamson gave 6 to Geelong tonight and 5 to us. Gianfagna on the other hand gave Geelong 6 and 0 to us. Either way though, unless we go through every decision one by one, it's pointless pointing fingers at individual umpires.

*I was recording these by eye live, so it might be off by a couple.

You can’t expect to win if you can’t kick straight, you fumble, can’t mark and can’t hit targets. I haven’t seen so many handpasses go to feet and kicks over heads in a long time. We were lucky to have got so close but get those four right and we win easily.

Is it time for Freijah to have a spell in the VFL? Ever since he was compared to Bont his form has fallen away, imo. (Others might disagree.)
He’s come off the elite form he showed earlier in the year, but I think this bye will do him a world of good.

You win 9/10 with these numbers...

+7 contested possession
+13 ground balls
+9 f50 ground balls
+9 clearances
+5 inside 50s
+3 shots

The difference...

Score From Turnover
GE: 70
WB: 37

I’m pretty sure 51 of those points were in the first half. Just absurd numbers

I’m disappointed but still feeling pretty good despite that loss. Our form line is trending in a good direction. None of our losses have been bad. Sucks to lose another close one.

We definitely are still a chance for top 4 with how we are playing but is challenging with how close the comp is.

The first half tough particularly that 2nd quarter just turning it over far too often and they capitalised most of the time from them. Poor disposal etc from us were a feature in the first half and you need players who use it well if you want to go far.

The second half was really good from us and the come back started in the 3rd quarter. They were rattled much more 2nd half with our pressure. Much better and fought it out as best we can to the end.

Another strong offensive game (although could have executed better on some more chances) and not the greatest defensively but guys like Lobb etc still fought hard.

The umpires made some poor calls which certainly had an influence but it is what it is.

Good to have the bye and then play the Hawks at Marvel Round 13 which is even more important now in the context of the season.

We got our preparation wrong, and as much as I love Bevo, this one's on him.

We weren’t aggressive enough. The plan to avoid antagonising Smith backfired badly. He slammed Kennedy’s head into the ground and we did nothing. It was weak.

Plenty of our boys would’ve had built up frustration towards Baz. Telling them not to be physical when emotions are running high was a poor call. Geelong came in harder, won the 50/50s, and set the tone.

By the last quarter, Bevo looked the most fired up I’ve seen him. He’d figured it out too late. We shied away from the moment, and it showed with how fumbley our first QTR was.
Nope. The game really slipped from our grasp in the last 5 minutes when the distraction of Libba and Smith wrestling was happening. Contrary to the commentary teams views on his game Smith was not the most influential player on the ground after half time. That would've been any of Holmes, Richards or Kennedy when it came to mids. Our plan for Smith was just fine. Until it wasn't .

Where our aggression was overplayed was playing our press way too high up the ground leaving acres of space for Cameron and Neale to work back into exposing JO'D for size and experience. They clearly had a plan to worker and through JO'D with whomever rotated through him or whomever wasn't being guarded by Lobb.

If I was a neutral , I'd be annoyed at the umpires inserting themselves into the game. They spoiled the flow, and my enjoyment of an absorbing contest. One of those games where the whistle blows and its a raffle as to which game gets the free..... as long as the team's mascot is feline
100 million f*n percent. Not just the terrible free kicks but the 50m penalties. Even when they're there, they're such a massive penalty that changes the game because someone was in slightly the wrong position. So bad.

Serious question...

How do you folks who've seen this again & again stay so positive?

The poor finishing.

The constant cycle of media hype, lose a big game, miss top 4. Again.

Sitting mid table & dropping out?

We're staying relevant but we've still lost to the Lions, Pies, Suns & Cats.

Let's face it Geelong have better skills and don't **** up easy shots. We always do.
Geelong play games at their training game. Take them out of their comfort zone and we are on equal terms, yeah and we only lost by 14 points playing so badly.

It's frustrating. But what do you do? We see it. We need a psych because it's like we just get stage fright and overwhelmed by the best teams, unable to close the deal.

It’s more fun for me to be positive and have high hopes than be negative and pessimistic.

There’s enough negativity around everywhere at the moment.

We’ve genuinely got a good and easy to support group of players.

With Darcy and Treloar to come, I’m feeling positive about our chances.

You don’t win premierships in May, and we have an easier schedule coming up. I’ve seen enough good signs to feel optimistic.

You can’t see any difference between this year & late last year compared to post 2021?
