Across the board it does seem like watching a train wreck. Players and coaching group.

Team provides almost zero enjoyment because they are untrustworthy. Weitering 'only today' epitomises it; next week it is a different player.

Weitering gets a pass this week, he is usually a rock.

Honestly I just don't know anymore. Is it Voss? The assistants? The senior players? The youth??

It just not a finals list. I'd love to keep TDK but not on more than $1 mill, if he goes he goes. In fact I think Silvagni is a bigger loss.

I've given up hope for this year and probably next. I'm keen to see what magic Wright can weave but lets all be honest, there is something really wrong with the club that one man alone cannot fix.

At least before I expected us to be shit, these years are supposed to be contending years. Hawthorn will win a flag or two then bottom out then rebuild before we get close.
Going by today’s effort, squarely on the top echelon / senior / leaders of our players.
Lack of skills compound our attacking efforts and ability to pull off a winning score & pressure.

I'm not defending his career here. I criticise him often.

I'm asking why he is the one being singled out when Durdin had a far worse game?

Not potting Durds either. I like his pace and tackling normally. It's just that some supporters seem to be actively looking for Jesse to fail, and give zero credit for every one passage of play. It's just the over-arching 'no good' narrative so I won't even encourage or convey anything positive he does.

Balanced view and agree. I have been very vocal about the same bug-bear I have the view of Youngy on here.

Its an assessment of a player with blinkers on which fails to appreciate any good that they do. Even when they do good, it "could've been better" , it's never enough.

Having said that, I just don't see any good from Jesse. Durdin too. They have moments, but they're incredibly few and far between. It's really hard to see the player that either of them can be - neither show enough to be confident that either of them will ever amount to anything.

They're both very lucky we have nobody pushing for their spots. But we need to accept that neither are AFL quality, nor will they be. I desperately hope I'm wrong, but I really don't think that I am.

So, in that respect, I think celebrating their very few good moments is futile.

He’s not the worst. Durdin and Fog a lot worse.

Seeking whipping boy…. Russell was once a fan favourite. And with the state of our forward line he deserves to resume favouritism.

Not Fog, he was pretty damn good today.

Russell was number one whipping boy for a couple of years when he played. Yeah, our forward line is dysfunctional and Russell has to be accountable.

I dont think its what i think you might be hinting at. But moreso the noise about him in pre-season created a level of expectation.. and when its not met the reaction is equal the other way.

Both Motts/Durds are VFL for mine. One plays within limits and the other plays like he has no limits.

Man, you should see the supporter vitriol towards Motlop in every single Carlton related story during the week. Fair criticism is fine, but when we keep losing players to mental health issues, I think the reactions are completely over the top and frenzied.

What if we had a better system /game plan?

could be completely different for all we know.

It’s obvious this style of play is not sustainable.

Why do our players look more cooked late in games compared to opposition??

I understand people are venting but Weitering wins his contest each week. He was ordinary today but is constantly our most consistent and reliable player.

Slagging him off based on a rare bad game is crazy.
Creeping in more regularly and needs to be held accountable. He’s a leader FFS, that was deplorable from the VC. Doesn’t show up vs GWS.

I'm a little frustrated in the Motlop hate this time.

9 disposals, 6 tackles and a goal.

Durds meanwhile had 6 disposals, 2 tackles and not a ripple on the scoreboard.

I watched Mots carefully this week because he is copping it on facebook and on here. A poor kick, a dropped mark, but lots of heart and effort. I'm not sure why he's the only small forward singled out every week.

I got emoji trolled by a few of our own supporters here. It's pretty weak and disappointing that our own supporters troll each other to be honest. If you can't engage in discussion, why are you here?

I think there is an alternative to completely blowing it up but it’s a for a different thread.

Harsh on Cripps today but spot on with the other 5. Mind you all 6 have been down this season.

I think the issue with Cripps is he doesn't quite know how to lead and impact a game when (like today) it is clear that we need someone to step up. He seems to almost panic a little and try a little too hard - bulldozes away from clearances, gives away the odd free kick, etc.

Cripps makes me sad because he is a 194cm unicorn and has spent so much time as an inside bulldozer that we can't even remember the Kouta similarities and how differently they have developed. Kouta got to be the 'icing' on the premierhsip cake in 1995 and learn how to insert himself when needed. Cripps had to do it all in a rubbish team and seems almost at his best as the shining light in a 5 goal loss.

Might be consider child abuse if you have your kids support this club at the moment.
Mine took himself off the bed after the game. We’re coming over from Tas for the north game. I wish we weren’t bothering cos I’ve got zero confidence in this club.

No use whinging about Motlop...

The core group let us down again today...

At this point, I'll be shocked if Wright doesn't order a rebuild this off season.

Cannot persist with these conditional, over paid pretenders...
I'd be surprised if he goes go for a rebuild. Hasn't been his MO thus far.

Use the rest of the season for a mini refresh. We've got decent young talent on the list, let's continue getting games into them.

Lord is growing by the week, HOF has talent in spades and held his own, Carroll grew into the game. If TDK is gone, we should look at getting some game time into HOK. Wilson is getting close, can rotate with Carroll.

They showed no gears, no footy nous, no mental resilience or fortitude.

How about they get angry and hold each other to account. Call out the lack of work rate and effort, and stand for something. Simply weak.

Yup.

For a coach noted for his physicality, he must appalled at our lack of mongrel.

Can not even remember the last time we put an opposition player on his arse.

As for playing angry…..meh.

PErsonally, its this mysterious suggestion of a better gameplan that our players could adopt and magically start winning that gets me.

Crows style? No f'ing way, can't kick.

Lions? Bit slower so maybe.. But no capable goal scoring mids or smalls.

Bulldogs? Too slow.

Geelong? Possibly... way better team by foot than us. Our win was a really bad game from them.

Pies? Probably the best chance. Their ball carriers are again way better kicks than ours though. Still gonna get murdered on turnover.

As a team, we have become massive downhill skiiers. Zero will to win in the last qtr despite only being 14 pts down. Weiters sooked it up big time, Walsh balked at more than one hardball, and Charlie went missing again in his laconic efforts. We just have no hunger to win
