What if we kicked goals vs points
Hit targets
Scores at the other end don’t happen
W/L is different then

It’s the execution (players provide) that is the downfall. We don’t have the necessary skills to play at the standard required.

Straightened up our defence and stoppages/contest/effort are there, it’s the forward entries (execution again and IQ/decision making) that’s continually f*ing us over.

Pretty fair & true

And on another note…. (sighs, clicks neck)…

Youngsters Lord, Carroll, HOF , and Ollie all coming along real well - add Smith - it’s something to build on

Think it’s worth being bold (not scorched earth, but gotta give something )

For everyone potting Weitering: who else was flying for a mark or spoil in packs?

Who else was drifting back to cover the goal line when they streamed up the ground on the back of a turnover?

Pretty much him (though credit to Acres).
How many corks does Weiters receive?
He needs to impact the opposition player and put his knee/body through the thighs / back / midriff and make them earn it. Put the thought in their head they don’t want to near that again (or subbed off).

For how talented he is, he has become incredibly easy to defend against. He's been figured out since his Coleman years and he doesn't have the resilience/ fortitude/ footy IQ to combat it.

We (rightly) get angry at our F50 entries due to consistently bombing it i. But I never see him (nor McKay) attempt to get separation and lead up at the player with ball in hand.

Our players just lack any natural IQ. Everything is so mechanical because it needs to be taught to them. We can never rely on them doing the right thing in the moment, based solely on their natural ability.

This statement is not solely at Curnow but across the entire playing list We need to get aggressive this off season. If we think this current crop is enough and top-ups will suffice, it simply won't. And I'm genuinely scared that nobody at the club has the gaul to realise it and, more importantly, act upon it
Correct, we do bomb it in but that's because we have stationary lazy forwards that dont lead nor try and get and separation on their opponent. Been an issue for years.

The most concerning part is the club appears to be backing in Voss despite below average performances over a period of time.

I believe the club needs to improve the coaching staff with some quality assistants before it sacks another coach.

At some point, someone other than the head coach needs to take some accountability. Otherwise, if we do sack another coach we may as well just hire weekly motivational speakers and let the players coach themselves.

Maybe we should review who’s dumb ass decision it was to move Hollands (back) and Docherty (fwd) at half time.

Hollands was dangerous, offering pressure and doing a good job on Whitfield.

We’re a poorly ran football club (football wise) from the board, to the (bottom of the barrel) head of football, coaching group and list group.

Agreed, they’re certainly partially to blame. In a perfect world they take the responsibility themselves, but sometimes people need to be forced into it - even elite athletes.

It’s not ideal but it’s where we’re at.

So what do you do? Trade them all? Or take a swing and give them the responsibility their pay check warrants?
The 1st thing we need to do is put Wright in the main job right now & start planning for decisions later in the year, with coaching & list management roles.

Cripps is a easy target here, his performances over a long period have been excellent, unlikely to play at this level every year, unfortunately no one has elevated themselves.

Drop some senior players...
Been waiting still not happening, this selection/match committee likes to rush and add underperforming underdone & consistently injured senior players back in…

No chance in hell they’ll drop an underperforming senior player/s to make an example to everyone by setting standards…

Sad.

Voss just go.

We are good but coaching just kills us. We are just horrible at finding a decent coach. We have the best spine in the AFL and consistently serve up shit like this.

Watch Voss bring in Evans next week and drop Lord. 🤦‍♀️🤮

Voss is rubbish and this team just continues to rip my heart out.

As a collective, we overrate Harry something shocking. Unfortunately, the Club made the same mistake. Still think a reasonable chance to be trade bait end of year.

Give me a workhorse who crashes packs ala Earl Spalding any day.

Charlie isn’t far behind - he does actually have ridiculous talent and isn’t afraid in a contest, but doesn’t do the basics and one-percenters well enough.

Sometimes I wonder if playing in our forward line just wears you down over time - too many kicks over the head or hitting the turf, too congested, too predictable etc.

Yeah, I wondered exactly the same thing after half time. Hollands was making himself an option every time we had the ball.

Instead of moving him back the coaches should have been coaching the rest of the team to look for him at every opportunity in the second half.

Let’s break it down….and look at tge numbers..

We kicked 12.10 which isnt great but doesn’t scream we lost cause we kicked poorly

Our forwards aren’t too bad at set shots.

I’m more concerned with the quality of our f50?entries.

We are more quantity than quality.

All that effort moving tge balL up tge ground to only dump kick it in there

We build and build but fail to finish off our hard work.

I wonder how often we do drills at training and preseason to practice ball movement and f50 entries??

My suspicion is we don’t.

How can this many professional afl players in our team all have poor kicking skills ?? It’s not realistic.
We had more shots on goal but we’re still behind on the scoreboard in the last Q & then coughed up further goals against to balloon out the margin.

Should have been in front in the 2nd Q.

Same vs Sydney in the 1st Q. No reward for the effort (execution). Common issue this season.
Players are the one’s that need to deliver.

This argument does my head in.
Various versions. ‘Let’s stick fat with Voss and surround him with decent assistants’ or this give Voss quality assistants. Wild
Voss has done nothing to prove his worth as a head coach. Record speaks for itself
If he needs people under him to make him better, he is not the man for the job
A decent assistant would not want to work for someone that can’t teach them anything
Clearly Voss isn’t a coaching guru
it’s not about sacking another coach
It’s whether Voss can coach us to a flag
I think the answer to that is pretty clear
Ps love Voss the player

Idiotic decision, Ollie was playing that role extremely well…

Predictable result we just don’t get it done when we have one or two best 22 out … to think Jack has played a half dozen games in defence and is easily our best down there already says it all … the lack of composure in defence today was beyond belief … TDK was really poor today has he already checked out ? If so drop him … we have no small forwards whatsoever but Fog and White at least try to be … H invisible … our forward setups are bizarre to watch … too many examples to be bothered referencing all of them … except to say it’s insanely bad … on a positive note I thought Doc got back to his best today …

Whilst I agree IMO the Senior players and the Coaches are on a different page

This is just one issue that has been festering underneath for a long while now
Just your opinion or any leaks coming out to this effect Soapy V as you have a bit of inside info?
The most concerning part is the club appears to be backing in Voss despite below average performances over a period of time.
The core group of players at the club have been putting in below average performances pre dating Voss becoming coach.

As supporters we are just as piss weak as the players if we start cancelling memberships.

I'm keeping the 4 family memberships I have and will be first to sign next year.
Well good for you. If you are getting a lot of enjoyment from being with your family st the footy. I get that. It certainly seems going to the footy these days is geared toward young kids and teenagers.

NFI
As I mentioned pre-game, GWS plan was telegraphed to our coaches at selection with their tall inclusions.
Our coaches had no idee and let them dictate back and forward. Embarrassing.

My assessment isn’t based on his individual performance at all, that’s the point.

He’s not a ‘target’.
