Not gonna go too hard on people having a crack at Weiters out of frustration, his performance was shocking, and not shocking as in bad (even though it was) but shocking as in, I was legitimately shocked. You just don't see that from him ever.

It doesn't really matter what anyone here says, I guarantee you no-one is going harder at Weiters than Weiters after that one.

Problem with our team, structure and profile is that we can ill afford for our top 8 to have off to bad days. All 8 need to have excellent games for us to be a chance. Yet so often there’s at least 2 that have average games, and then couple that with a number of the rest not having good days, means we are not gonna be competitive against the good sides.

I’d rather have 22 B grade players plying consistently at their level, than 8 A grade players that can’t all show up at the same time and then a mixture of B-D players.

Difference is Durds has had games this year where he's showed something, he's a small forward, he's going to throw up a stinker every now and again.

Motlop has had two good games in absolute drubbings against Norf and WC, and every other game he's had a stinker. This is becoming a pattern. If Durds keeps up this form he'll start to cop it too, don't you worry.

Motlop cops it because we all EXPECTED him to be the pick of the smalls. The disappointment in him not putting out Watson-like numbers on the scoreboard is on par with the disappointment in the Club’s efforts since the PF loss in 2023.

the kid cops the brunt of the whack amongst our small forwards, but reality is that our small forward cohort is the worst in the league and there’s sweet FA waiting in the stands to fill those gaps.

If it is actually low IQ players it 100% a coaching issue.
They didn’t just get dumb, that’s who they are.
They may not have the footy IQ but they have the skills - if they didn’t have the base skill they wouldn’t have been drafted & made a list.

You don’t have to be a high IQ player to do a job, but it requires drilling the hell out of a system so it’s 2nd nature & the system has provide for the players being low IQ.

Not being factious here, u give me 22 idiots who can kick, mark, handball & run thru a wall I can devise a simple system to make that work & a plan B & C when it doesn’t.

We do not have that, its a product of coaching & system

It would be great if the only issue at Carlton is coaching.

Giants had 4 guys 6’3 or over forward. They took 14 marks between them & kicked 12 goals.

They also had a ruck who goaled.

On a fast deck.

We got 4 goals out of our big guys, 3 from Charlie, one from Cripps.

Alot of that relates to quick easy transition to their front half, we are the opposite all year, slow ball movement & skill errors.

Man, you should see the supporter vitriol towards Motlop in every single Carlton related story during the week. Fair criticism is fine, but when we keep losing players to mental health issues, I think the reactions are completely over the top and frenzied.

I could hear it in the crowd today, I'm not perfect but I just can't bag my own players.

Talk is/was, Austin and Co are convinced we have a top 4 list.

FFS we have the worst HBs and Small Forwards in the whole competition. Some VFL teams have these positions better covered than out AFL team.

Then there’s our lack of development. Which is such a major area

We got our 5 from the smalls, and we got 4 from midfield (Doc, Hollands, Cripps, Cerra). Where we were lacking was the KPF's who didn't come to the party.

The speed of GWS absolutely killed us,we had no answers for it.
It really exposed how slow we are.
A turnover in our half of the ground was just scooped up by the Giants and with the speed of light they were running on top of the ground back down into their forward 50 leaving our defence caught with their pants down.

We picked a tall side. Our defence has been to tall all year.

We play Weitering McGovern Haynes Silvagni most weeks (today HOF) and wonder why we get no run from defence

Said it last week, and I'll say it again.. inside 50 efficiency is killing us.
We won more clearances, inside 50s by 11, and smacked them at contested footy and still lost by 5 goals.
This has been a constant trend for 20 odd games.
I've read for two weeks a million different opinions on what's wrong..you know what we still best tye oppo in opportunities we create..we just don't reap enough scoreboard reward.
Everyone at the club knows it and has known it for 12 months
.but here we are, and it still isn't fixed.
Wtf have this coaching group been doing? They changed personel but nothing else.
Voss needs to get it through his stubborn head it's about working smarter not harder.
I've not been a sacking voss person but I'm now at the point that after all this time if he's been unable to fix our constant self inflicting awful offensive play then why are we trusting him to go again next yr? At some point Graham Wright has to say to himself is voss ever going to get it?
