Think we name our strongest side this week, so the rest brigade (which includes me) can have a rest ourselves this week.

Sidebottom back in. Assuming Pendlebury, Hill, Schultz and Moore are back.

I assume Tom Mitchell plays a full game of VFL tomorrow, but won't play on a 5 day break from that He'd be a chance for the following week, although might have to dislodge someone else anyway!

Also:

In: Josh Browne 😂

In: Moore, Pendles, Sidebottom, Schultz, Hill, West.
Out: Markov, Cox, Sullivan, Hayes, Lipinski, Parker.

Just don't think we can go with Cox anymore. Long showed even tonight that he can handle some ruck contests, and/or Membrey for a few. We would stand to gain more by bringing in West (even though Hawks key backs are super strong).

Said it before the Roos game we need to debut Steene, Cox is gone and an injury to Cameron could end our chances this year.

His form may not necessarily warranted it, but him getting AFL experience is more important than West at the moment.

Totally agree. Or Smit but by most accounts Steene is further developed.

So I just lip read the convo between Bruz and Q. Not a word of a lie, Q said to Bruz "you snapped it?"

So presumably the PF he's been managing finally snapped.
Did Robert Harvey jump off a table to purposely snap his PF as it can be a quicker way of healing it? I could be thinking of something else!

I’ll say it for the third week in a row if cox is out who plays second ruck? He will not be dropped until McStay is back or they decide to play Steene or Smitt. Framptom is the only possible option but with Moore out it won’t happen and it’s rare that a key defender is a second ruck option.
Cox does his role, his role is to play that second ruck and be a body bag to give Cameron a rest that’s it. I’d rather him doing it than Long or Membury. It’s his last season let’s use him as much as we can.

That's correct. Not sure of the details around any time on the sidelines for Harvey though. Google tells me a snapped PF takes 12 weeks to heal but hopefully that's not the case for a professional footballer.

Steene isn't strong enough. He gets ragdolled by the good VFL rucks. We'll have to turn to Frampton if Cameron gets injured.

You can say it as many times as you like, but I was pretty clear I provided my answer to that in my post. I think we just need a strong body to body up to the opposition second ruck (which for Hawthorn I think is Sicily...) at the bounces. Long, Membrey, Mihocek can call do that.

Cox isn't adding enough in the forward role or in the air around the ground when in the ruck to warrant a spot in my opinon.

Yeah Steene got monstered by some Footscray VFL ruck a few weeks ago it was embarrassing. Smitt is more likely but neither is really likely yet.

Then he comes back for the first week of finals then. All good.

Our game plan is based on rotation of two rucks. If Cox is dropped on form prior to McStay returning, Steene would be the more likely replacement.
Big Risk Playing Steene

I saw Membery and Miocheck Ruck a bit tonight

And I’ll laugh at that because the hawks second ruck is Chol. Obviously you don’t know what you’re talking about because you’re saying Long as second ruck when he’s our best midfielder at the moment.

Cox is cosplaying his role, he’s an absolute liability at the moment.

Richmond won a flag or two with Marlion Pickett as a backup ruck. It can be managed with Mihochek, Long, Membrey etc.
If Moore returns, there’s nothing stopping Frampton filling the backup role either.

He is young so no doubt will get ragdolled at times. However Frampton is critical to our back line so we should be exploring other options. We are talking about the 2nd ruck role so he is probably up against players not as good as the good VFL rucks.

Cox is not up to it and our next ruck in line is Steene. Time to give him a go until McStay returns.
