Justifying it?

I've been calling Hawthorn a bogey side for the better part of my entire time on this forum. It's not some doom and gloom situation for this week

Everyone knows my feelings on Hawthorn so I'm fine not repeating it for the rest of the week

Would love it if we can win, but I'm comfortable knowing we can't really lose Top 2 even if we lose so whatever. I'm becoming better about losing to good teams in a situation where our ladder position isn't really hurt. I just can't stand how shit teams always play well against us.

More so as someone who watches most matches each rounf and watches those same shit teams play like themselves against others. Would just be nice to have shit teams play like shit against us every now and again.

But I'm genuinely glad we've finally become a side that actually beats teams comfortably now (terrible goal kicking accuracy aside). Would be interesting to see what our percentage would look like in 2025 had we kicked even 10% straighter than we had.

I'd argue that outside the GWS game, our smallest winning margin this year should have been around 5 or 6 goals against the Dogs. All of our other games should have been 10 goal plus wins in terms of shots on goal/poor accuracy.

Having said all that, I reckon some of you should probably accept that some people emotionally respond differently in the heat of match time to others for varying passion related reasons. In the cold light of day it's kind of odd how upset it makes some of you lol. This weird phenomenon of playing the man vs the ball is something you (and others) should probably look into. I mean, most of you are more than happy to critique our personalities/habits/posting style. Might be worth tending to your own backyard too. Food for thought.

Hey CoD, if it makes you feel any better, I have always interpreted your doom and gloom statements simply as your passion for our mighty club. They never bother me, because I understand what motivates them!! TBH, i think there are many posters here critical of your posts who actually harbour similar fears. You articulate them, and that is what annoys them. They'll tell me to speak for myself, so I won't go any further.

In fact, it is the overconfident posts, which express opinions of our invincibility without any back up evidence, which sometimes irritate me. Likewise, I know what motivates these posts, but posts like this invite you to get into a bubble of euphoria which can be disastrously deflated. We all know the emotions that go with that!

Keep posting CoD in your natural manner. All good with me.

Long dominating perfect timing for a match up against his old side. He was phenomenal, Jamie getting better with age. Allan was consistent against lesser opposition, hopefully this gives him confidence for the rest of the season.

Maynard out for a number of weeks, I like the energy Markov brings…speed and intent.
yeah, I think Leggy is the man for the job.

It’s a weird one. Objectively we’ve been getting towelled up by the Hawks since the 2000s ladder position be damned. They are the definition of a bogey side for us.

Thanks mate

Yeah similar boat. I see plenty of posts of varying stances that I may vehemently disagree with or flat out annoy me, but I don't attack the poster for it? Hell even the posts that come across as flat out trolling I don't go after.

At the very least I'll try prodding a little bit to see if it's actually trolling or not.

In the end, 99.99% of the posters here ultimately love the club and just want us to win each week.

Do I have an irrational and overly emotional expectation of perfection each week?

Yeah, I do. I acknowledge that. But I don't think it's something worth getting legitimately upset about and throwing personal insults at people over.

I'd argue that's just as weird behaviour as the behaviour being attacked to begin with.

He won’t play next week. We’ll have several returns including Pendles, Sidey, Schultz and Hill and Moore at a minimum. Perryman will end up playing Maynard’s role as our two old boys will slot back in to the mid field. Oleg will inevitably be pushed out along with Parker.

If you can’t stand the heat then get out of the kitchen.
Illogical and unjustified commentary as in the game day thread makes you a target.
You happily and continually bag the team but call foul when you’re pulled up on it.
So please spare us the hypocrisy.

Outstanding response after half time last night.. this team is a pure joy to watch when we get a roll on, even with a handful of stars missing we just get the job done.

Looking forward to getting more troops back next week and taking on a side that generally has our measure, sucks to lose Maynard but we can cover him for the next month and the bye will mean less games missed so not all bad.
Proud of the boys for giving us fans so much hope! Onto the next

Chris Scott give Mitch his phone back!

Maybe he should ask the AFL instead of posting a clickbait post on Twitter. We ask, they approved.

I hope Bobby is alright.

Re Clarko, he had that ‘deer in the headlights’ look in the last quarter. Like he was stunned into submission and has no idea what to do when our system really got going. Not unlike Voss’s expression when he’s clearly out of his coaching depth.

Clarko has been a master coach, albeit helped along by some incredible drafting at the Hawks in their prime. Maybe he doesn’t have the ‘brains’ trust to help that Fly has. Our coaching team seems to be running beautifully.
I was just watching the last quarter and thought the same thing, well, i couldn't decide whether it was 1. Deer in headlight look 2. I don't know what to do look 3. I need a nap.

I remember our first game of the 2000's. Fraser, Johnson, Adkins, Leon, Cheesy Ukovic and MM all made their Collingsood debut's.

Beat the Hawk's by 9 goals.

Thought it was over.

I was wrong.
