As for the opposition, not sure if it was clumsy or dirty but I’m surprised Toby Pink is copping no heat for his first minute tackle on Elliott slamming him into the ground and then tunnelling Checkers.

Lots of discussion at VP House about Pink and what he did to deliberately hurt Jamie.

Should be cited for it, and have some time off. He could have seriously hurt our boy - this sh*t has to be stamped out.

Membrey is such a useful addition to the side. Has the forward smarts and finishing skills to make the most of big moments. Think he's clearly going to hold his place in the side throughout. That's at least 4 new additions to our best 22 from last year, along with Long, Perryman and Houston.
Going to be hard for opponents to cover the 3 M”s in the big games. Oh and Billy and bobby.

Just watched the game today, very rare situation to miss a live Pies match but shit happens sometimes. My brief take was that North were kicking goals out of their ass for 3 qtrs while we were plonking along in 2nd gear making them look good. In the last qtr with game ready to be won we went up into 3rd and blew them away like they were burnt paper. This was a game of Men vs Mice. Too easy!

As someone mentioned Bobby's cousin, Jarman Impey, was also a late out, so it suggests a family matter.
That's as much as we should say.

in this scenario, it would be odd then that Brad Hill is still playing today no?

I thought IQ was super early. Ditto Frampton - his positioning is getting better in terms of almost being a goal keeper.

Given the outs, and Maynard subbed off early and trailing at half time, that was a solid win as Kangas had been playing some decent football in previous weeks.

You can see Allan is slowly improving. Needs to keep developing his body strength to stick tackles but he is looking more comfortable at the level.

As it was SDN round it must be something pretty significant for Bobby to miss. Hopefully he has the support he needs

Kudos to Markov - I have not been his biggest fan of late but last night (to his credit) he did a good job and that goal he kicked was thoroughly deserved. Don't mind him or WHE as the sub.

But now the real audit is coming. We face our kryptonite this Friday night.

Watched the replay and focused on a couple of players.

Will Hayes showed a bit - a couple of tackles to win free kicks.
The bit I liked the best was the play leading to Sully's goal.
Will assessed where the ball would drop and sped to the spot.
He didn't take the mark but he brought the ball to ground to where Sully grabbed the ball and snapped truly.
Smart footy.

Tim Membrey is one of the great footy bargains.
He has great forward craft, and gets to good spots.
He also gets up the ground to link up play.
In one passage, he had two disposals that led to a goal.
St Kilda didn't want him - our gain.

Hey CoD, if it makes you feel any better, I have always interpreted your doom and gloom statements simply as your passion for our mighty club. They never bother me, because I understand what motivates them!! TBH, i think there are many posters here critical of your posts who actually harbour similar fears. You articulate them, and that is what annoys them. They'll tell me to speak for myself, so I won't go any further.

In fact, it is the overconfident posts, which express opinions of our invincibility without any back up evidence, which sometimes irritate me. Likewise, I know what motivates these posts, but posts like this invite you to get into a bubble of euphoria which can be disastrously deflated. We all know the emotions that go with that!

Keep posting CoD in your natural manner. All good with me.
Same. Would rather read COD”s posts than the snide remarks some posters make, and one main offender if the post isn’t 100% positive.

Hard to make judgment from that win considering the outs and norths position but the side we fielded did the job and our ins all put their hand up. Professional display from the club, stepped up a gear and blew them away when it mattered. Masterclass from a coach and buy in from the boys. We should be very happy with the result and the exposure of the future talent. North came to play and we’re not up to the side we selected.
Will Hayes in his debut game showed composure and traits that will see him well in the future. Was so relieved to watch Ed Allen finally show his bag of tricks, this guy is on the edge of becoming a serious talent.
Bloody Ned just keeps forging on, he showed promise last year but who would of thought he would become the player he is now.
Happy Days.

I still cannot believe that we got Membrey. He has been amazing and he was always one of my favourites from other teams. Saints with a shocking decision to get rid of him! He would have been an elite pick up for literally any team. Imagine if Brisbane got him to fill in after Daniher or Geelong... Not only am I so stoked he is ours what he could have done against us terrifies me!

Reckon he will fill his boots vs Hawks.

Watching the last quarter.
Mason was ok in the last. Needs to make that his standard.
Loved seeing him drift back and take some intercept marks. I thought the most pleasing thing was just how bloody hard Mason competed. He is not afraid to take a ****ing huge amount of contact and put body on the line for the team. He is huge and is making his prescence felt. I thought in prior weeks he used his feet so damn well too.

Second best win of the year setup by North playing one of the weirdest systems we’ve seen in years! Seriously WTF were they thinking trying to take 150 uncontested marks with one of the most inexperienced teams in the league. Leave that stuff to Geelong!

That first half was ugly. We allowed too much territory through stoppage and a loose grid (probably a mix of less cohesion from forced changes and Marvel), but not only that weren’t moving to create space in transition. The long down the line was barely working and we could only move it from contest which we weren’t winning much of.

Thankfully though they tired and our prime movers took control. Combined Allan, Long, Crisp and Naicos were +52 for possessions in the second half v the first half which allowed us to find space and blow them out. I wouldn’t back that 21 (leaving Maynard and Cox out because they had zero impact on the contest) to win any games for the remainder of the year, but most importantly they got the job done when it mattered. That group isn’t 8 goals better than North and was almost entirely on the back of poor coaching from the Roos, IMO.

Special mention to big Bill. Larkey had kicked 13 from his past 3 matches against us and he was a non event. Bill was so far back in February when McInnes was flying and we were potentially in a transition phase as a club, but since entrenching himself in the 23 he’s done a number of big jobs. It’s a credit to both him and Roughy!

I know he's struggling to hold marks, (is really disappointed in himself btw).
He's also getting blocked, held and bumped without any respite from umpires.
All of this is impacting his confidence imo.

On the plus side, his spoil lead to Pezza's left foot goal.
He also had a deft little knock on in the centre which lead to a clearance, (and goal I think).
I believe these are the team things Fly will be focussing on and the structure he brings.

I’d like to see him stop throwing his arms up at the umps. It’s not helping his cause.

Had to laugh at Kingy last night. He’s been a big supporter of what we’ve done lately but he was saying we’re on a knife edge because injuries could ruin our season given our age profile.

Kingy, good sir, we’ve had someone miss due to injury or being managed every game since round 0 and we’re still banking wins.

Had a good laugh at this. He's been hanging around campaigner Kornes for too long.
