Why move Durham when we can either go taller with Gerryn or smaller with one of Menzie/Davey/Loul/Unwin/ADW and try and be more mobile/up the pressure

Let’s have people earn their opportunities in their preferred positions before chopping and changing too much
I think Elijah has done all he can in the seconds and needs a block in the ones to see if he can make it.

I think Durham forward offers more than any of those guys, and Tsatas in the middle loses less.

My guess is they'll push Durham forward and bring in Parish though.

why would we move our best mid out of the middle. Seems more likely we see Hobbs moved out or Parish starting at HF since he’s been decent there

Because Durham showed he can be a very real factor up forward in the way neither of those guys are.

He's also not our best mid, Merrett still retains that, and Martin lifted his CBAs to cover for Durham to very good effect. Any of Parish, Shiel or Tsatas are effective clearance winners in the middle in varying ways.

If you look at what say; Durham MID + ADW (or ADJ or Menzie) FWD gives us, versus Durham FWD + Parish (or Shiel, or Tsatas) MID gives us, I think the latter is stronger.

But the comparison is literally Durham + Parish or Hobbs with 1 of the 3 playing forward. Parish is a better HF then that group

So it’s not about others getting chances as much as it’s about putting the known best 22 in their best mix.

I still think the mid mix is a massive work in progress just gotta see how it goes

I guess it comes down to one thing: I believe Durham offers more forward than Parish. You don’t.

It’s less that and more I believe moving Duz out of the middle makes us too vulnerable to physicality

I don’t rate any player on the list as a capable defensive mid beyond Duz and Sets. And typically you need at least one at all times

Our midfield is still a WIP because of the perception Parish should still be in it. Which one of Caldwell, Durham & Merrett is Parish better than?

I must be missing the era where three midfielders play 100% midfield time 😛
