FT. Coburg 7.8. 50 defeated by Box Hill 12.16 88.

Not a game you'd want to watch on replay. Dull dour scrap in cold conditions with a strong but blustery wind. It was really only the third quarter in which we put them to the sword. Shout out to Declase and Arundell who both had good games.
  • Reeves dominated their third string ruck, and his around the ground work was also very good.
  • Maginness set the tone early with his defensive application. Ended up being a great all round game.
  • Mackenzie had a good game, lifting considerably in the second half. Ball use wasn't his usual quality.
  • Blanck deserves plaudits for completely shutting down Podhajski.
  • Mixed bag from Mraz. Some really good marks/efforts but some poor defensive positioning.
  • Serong had a good game as a defender, taking marks and using it well.
  • Frosty kicked 3 goals - two from leads and a cracking run down tackle. Frostball up forward is go.
  • Breust had an OK game. Still has IQ but isn't getting much separation.
  • Anderson's defensive application was great but he didn't win much of it.
  • BMac wasn't dominant but his ability to break lines really stood out. That goal he kicked was incredible.
  • McCabe had a reasonable game as a link player.
  • Scaife didn't really touch it.
  • JUH wasn't prolific but I thought his ruck work and follow up tackling was good. Promising for a project player.
  • Scrimshaw started reasonably well but was taken off in the second quarter. Not sure why.
  • Hill has lost some mojo since the injury.

Watching the second quarter I saw Scrim reach for his high right hammy a few times and wondered if he was ok.
Hope Im wrong!!
Was right by the bench when he came off. He was worked on for a bit with the trainers, some big stretches, and a few up-and-down the boundary line sprints. By the end of the quarter, jacket was on, and ice pack high on the left hammy. Didn't seem too bad, more just he was aware of a niggle, the way they were treating it.

Man it’s shit seeing bruest struggling.

If he had literally that extra step in him he’d be his usual 40 goal a year self. Always in good spots, just not getting that extra step of separation anymore where he ends up brushing tackles and running rings around everyone.

He’s 34.

That extra step has gone.

Unlikely to come back unfortunately.

Good mark 30 out from Reeves against an opponent 3 foot shorter. Unselfishly passes to someone in the goal square who kicks the goal. Not sure I want to see Ned do a short pass when 30M out directly in front ever again!
It was very tricky kicking to that end. So I didn't have a problem with it.
