A good win following a nye, a lot of teams fold. We don’t!

Our forward line is unstoppable, so multi- dimensional, and is the reason our defence holds up so well.

Sidey and Pendles just keep on getting better! If that’s even possible.

I thought we were a bit dysfunctional down back tonight. Cant quite put my finger on why. I still think Darcy is way off his AA form. Hopefully he’s just building for finals.

The only other negative is Houston, how are we not maximising the use of his kick?! We paid a lot for him, he’s probably cost us any chance of getting Rowell…we need greater output from him.

We really have a premiership aura about, we just shift gears when the game is in the balance…conserving energy for the big moments and finals.

After the game King mentioned Degoey forward on his return, I don’t think disrupting a forward line that’s performing so well is wise. We really need his grunt and pace through the middle.
Sidey had a bit of a quieter one tonight not dimishing his excellent forcing stoppages and a great first quarter

Toast forum zev, toast... not roast

It wasn;t even at their club.... they actively recruited him after he did that! Not to mention walking out on them as well....

Great win though, Darcy Cameron probablly just turned TDK into a $2millionPA St KIlda player :D

a excellent step in the right direction from Darcy Moore was one of our best tonight

No credit from Ross in the press conference to us and how we played. Wonder if there will be a media witch-hunt like last year.
Yeah listening to him ramble, if you didn’t know the score you’d think they had won. What a knob

It was a good win in the end,but boy what a struggle it was for three and a half quarters..As others have said, the cream really rose to the top in the end,in particular Nick and Jamie, who were both outstanding. It would have been even more of a struggle if they hadn’t played.

And it’s a shame about Mcreery getting injured. He was looking so dynamic in the first quarter, winning two great centre clearances that lead directly to goals.Hopefully Fly gives him more midfield time when he comes back, because he gives the midfield the explosiveness it lacks at the moment.

.... errrr don't think Ross gives a flyer what you think?

Seriously guys! If you have a problem with the funniest pressers in football - you clearly have no humour in your life.

It's unAustralian to bag Ross's pressers! I as a proud Collingwood supporter declare "I love them! Ross is hilarious!"

Got home from the game and just watched the Fox Mini highlights now. A really solid win given St Kilda made us earn it and challenged us on a number of occasions. A great sign that each time we were challenged, we responded strongly and kept them at bay.

A lot of discussion around N Daicos' being tagged and the tactics implemented by Windhager. Tagging will always exist in the game in some shape or form, but the discussion will revolve around where it does cross the line. Good to hear David King call it in Fox's post-match coverage. Overall, I thought Nick handled the tag really well and great to see his teammates fly the flag for him during the game.

Darcy Cameron was outstanding and best on ground for mine. He was a beast as an intercept marker and got on the end of a few well earned goals.

Hopefully the scans show McCreery's hamstring issue is nothing serious. Fingers crossed.

A great day all round with us winning and Carlton losing to North.

We have a nice buffer at top from 2nd and 3rd, and with another game in hand to consolidate our body of work. We're in as good position as we can be to launch ourselves for a tilt at the premiership. Still over three months left in the season, so a lot can change from now until then.

I actually really enjoyed the game probably for one of the rare times at Marvel. So much so we will be back there next Saturday night!!
I thought we played the majority of the game in 2nd gear, but then flicked the switch about 8 mins into the last quarter, and really just over powered the 'Aint's...
I loved Naicos' game. I thought he showed what a superstar he is, by the way he shook his tag and was able to win the ball and be a damaging influence. That goal in the last quarter had us all in our area, off our seats. Considering what Windhager did to the Bont the week before, this performance from Naicos was brilliant...
Cameron surely is the AA ruckman. I would be surprised and shocked if he isn't in the team. His performance tonight was superb. Loved his marking game, and he should have kicked 4. That would have been the ultimate performance by him.
Lippa was very good. Probably the best game l've seen him play this season. I thought his usage going inside F50 was very good, and really got involved in alot of the contested stuff.
I liked Crispy's game, particularly his pressure acts along with his tackling, Pendles continues to be a freak, Jaicos was very good off HB, eventhough l thought his ball usage early was poor, but he got better as the game went on. I liked Allan's 2nd half, thought he presented more and started to get more of the ball. We must persist with him in the meantime.
Only sour note was the hammy "injury" to McCreery. I think we just give him the time to get it feeling fully right, even if we're over precautionary and give him 1 to 2 weeks.
All in all, l thought we took everything St Kilda could throw at us, and when we decided to flick the switch, we just blew them off the park....

One way to over come that is when Daicos is going for the ball with his tagger up his arse, one of our players gives said tagger a nice hip and shoulder he never saw coming.

Will make him think twice about getting too close again if he gets back up off the floor in one piece.

Second hand info, but very close and reliable.... he is a ripping bloke and very protectiive to those he likes and part of his team... yes, yes, there will be counter stories
Obviously not enough to vouch for his character but a funny titbit.
The only time I've met Lyon was last year, on the night Brad Hill had his 250th.
Commended him on the win by the Saints, they smashed the Eagles by about 80.
When he asked me whether I was a Saints man I told him yeah nah Pies.
He asked what happened to your mob this year I replied you know how it is, you win some you lose some...
And then me being an utter campaigner kicked in and I went kind of reminds of that bounce of the pill that Milne got in the drawn Granny... what could have been.
He took it as well as anyone would, even had a brief chat to me when he was leaving at the end of the night.

Yep - we have the aura. We know it, other teams know it, we smack them or we grind them down, but whatever we need to do to win, we do. And we are playing some of the best ‘team’ footy I’ve ever seen from a Pies side.

Enjoy it while it lasts, and hopefully win #17 off the back of it.

Good win, considering like King’s Bday the opposition clearly came to play and get their hands dirty in the contest.

We had a pretty major issue on forward ground balls. Normally we absolutely mop up on F50 stoppages or balls that spill to ground but the Saints shut that door pretty easily. Hence why Bobby had no touches at half time and Elliott was down on output then.

Hope people aren’t too hard on Howe for his dumb turnover (btw I thought it was IQ just before that made the wrong decision to go all the way back and play for a switch we were not set up for), he has been our best defender this year by a mile and I would put him as our second most important player structurally for finals after Cameron. Maybe tied with Moore. Cannot be replaced in our current list.

Shame about Beau because that passage of play where he streamed out of the centre clearance then worked hard to get at the end of it and do the centering kick on the f50 boundary was close to his best for the year. I think he has really stepped up in his center clearance game or we’ve utilised him well esp with the Nick tag so we’ll miss that. Maybe an opportunity for Titch to get some minutes and show what he can and can’t do anymore.

As I predicted the tag vs Nick story is far from done. This will be a hot topic over his career where many idiots will complain about umps going after the tagger. Regardless he took that dirty hack to the cleaners and certainly shone in comparison to Bont vs the same opposition last week. He’s also regained his acceleration so watch out for big second half of the year from Nick.

Darcy "marking everything" Moore take a bow
Listening to the presser Fly spoke most about the challenge last night coming in the second quarter through their clearance and contest work, but I thought it was the first half of the third where they were at their most dangerous.

They had a few passages of play that they whiffed (on two occasions they had a 5 v 3 ahead of the ball I50 and just couldn’t get it there) and a massive part of why they were held up was Darcy. In the 3rd from just 5 possessions he had 4 interceptions, two contested marks, 3 score involvements and a massive spoil deep in the square. It was prime Darcy and you love to see it.

On the game itself I think that’s as mid winter top of the ladder footy as you get. We went through the motions for large stretches against a hungry team who were extremely well drilled (the way the set their numbers around the perimeter of contests was dangerous to us) yet still won 3 of the 4 quarters, had 9 more scoring shots and lead for 113 of the 116 minutes of the match. In 2023 we win that one by 10 points by just holding them at arms length for the final quarter, but to reiterate for what feels the tenth time this team feels different and by different I mean better.

Moore and Lipinski were so good in the third as we were getting challenged. The squad has depth alright.
