We were talking about this at the weekend.
Geelong has slowly allowed itself through poor planning to become a slum.
With all the immigration over the last 20 years, the smart move would've been to build, design a new city with modern infrastructure in the north of Western Australia.
Chance missed.

We designed a city from scratch already.

Hello Canberra.

What makes you think Geelong is a slum?
Anywhere armstrong creek
No room to move in yard.
A million kids hitting drug taking age at same time.
A million kids stealing cars when they get to 16
A million kids living in close quarters.

Good suburbs have a mixture of generations that help and respect each other.
Armstrong creek is a plastic suburb with the poorest quality home ever build in Australia's history.
Box houses, box flats, cookie cutter shopping centres.
The worst road planning
The new suburbs of Australia are devoid of any personality and individualness

You wanted a new planned city. Due to the ideology of '20 minute neighbourhoods' you would get high density 'plastic' suburbs. It doesn't mean they will become slums with millions of drug crazed teenagers rampaging the streets. For example, Point Cook was a brand new suburb. 30 years on it's sprawling and characterless but functional.

I would have more worries about high rise. It's fine when they are new but over time, with poor maintenance and residents isolated from any sense of community, it can create a sense of detachment and neglect - leading to crime or anti-social behavior. I don't think the Victorian government should be overriding the wishes of locals with these approvals for high rise developments in the suburbs.

Thankfully Geelong is not going the way of Box Hill and Greensborough. There's hardly any high rise in the CBD and none in the suburbs. Armstrong Creek is the exception in Geelong. Most of the extra housing will come from urban infill in existing suburbs. So you get the mixture of longstanding residents and newcomers that you mentioned. Kids from all backgrounds can join the local footy or soccer clubs that have been around for decades.

I went to Geelong for the first time earlier this year and was pleasantly surprised!

Just ripe for a cyclone to hit each year

Geelong CBD used to be much better IMO.
I think when Westfield opened up taking over from bay city.
More shops in the CBD become closed.
I was thinking on doing a video on market square.
But someone already done one on how a lot of shops have closed in there.
Only JB and Harris keeping it afloat.

The waterfront not bad.
I have not been down there in ages.
I'll do the bollard walk another time.

Sure some of the town planing could of been better.Yes for sure.
They already done the barwon heads rd now they doing more work there.
Extra set of traffic lights on Torquay Rd.
A lot of the areas have become bigger.

These guys released some videos here's Geelong in the 60s.

Have to laugh at people that think EVs will make a difference but encourage rampant population growth.
Yeah I saw someone boasting about graph somewhere showing the decline in some sort of emissions per capita in some country. I thought that is a start, but it's per Earth that matters. Too many people

Melbin will be one big African Gang and nobody will speak the English. Mr Murdoch and Mr Sewell told me so.

White men! White women! The swastika is calling you! The sacred and ancient symbol of your race since the beginning of time! The Jew is using the Black as muscle against you! And you are left there, helpless. Well? What are you gonna do about it, whitey? Just sit there?

Of course not! You are going to join with us! The members of the American Socialist White People's Party National Socialist Network. An organization of decent law-abiding white folk, just like you.

NOTE: Anyone who thinks I'm advocating for them c*nts doesn't know me well. "The Swastika is calling you!" speech comes from The Blues Brothers

That fella throwing a punch looks like recently retired Wallaby Nic White.
That's Thomas Sewell of the National Socialist Network. He's on something of a 'publicity tour' of late;

April 27, 2025

...Speaking on a webinar in February, Sewell told his followers they were being smashed by authorities, hit by raids and tangled up in expensive litigation under new state laws outlawing Nazi symbols and salutes. Forming a political party was “the only way we’re going to be protected” from serious jail time, in his view.
“Our plan ultimately is to challenge the swastika by incorporating it in some capacity into our organisation,” he said. “Then it is political communication.”

While the National Socialist Network might be “deluded in thinking they can get a Nazi elected”, researchers at the (antifascist watch group) White Rose Society say “you just have to look at the way [some] mainstream conservatives” have latched onto the Shrine booing stunt, to question Welcome to Country ceremonies, “to get a preview of how a Nazi political campaign will be used to push the Overton window”, referring to efforts to bring extreme views into the mainstream.

Far from deflating their party launch, researcher Dr Kaz Ross expects the publicity from the stunt will boost it. “They’re eating One Nation’s lunch,” she said. “And they’re growing.”

The AEC has limited grounds to knock back an application if the Nazi group meets all the requirements because the agency has to stay apolitical. It could rule that a party name is “obscene”, for example, but only along very narrow grounds that experts say the group’s planned name is unlikely to trigger. Objections lodged by the public and other parties also face narrow criteria to block them.

Sewell told followers the group would form an alliance with other small parties to the right of the Liberals to “get our numbers”. But he predicted that within a decade or so, the Nazi party will have “crushed” them, including One Nation, with the exception of the MAGA-inspired Libertarians, who will “agree with a lot of our policies...”
